Have you seen Mirror's Edge?

It sounds interesting. The combat element of the gameplay is minimized, encouraging the player to keep running.

Holy shit.

That actually looks really good.

Hopefully it's better than Assassin's Creed's system. That was gay.

You all act like this is new? I've been spamming it like mad and even wrote a blog entry ;P

It does look excellent and all my points are basically on my site. Looks nothing like the Unreal engine anymore D:

Yah, known about this a while. Definately looking forward to it, should make a nice change from typically grungey environments.

I hope it's a long game. And I hope EA doesn't make it the buggy pile of crap that BF2 is.

Yeah I remember this. I think there was another trailer awhile back, and it had some damn annoying breathing the whole time through.
But it'd like to see a bit more skill involved.
Out in the open with constant gunfire on you? No signs of being hit, with as realistic as this game looks like its aimed to be (in a sense) you'd think she'd have been hit as out in the open as she was...

Yeah, I've been tracking this game since it was announced a few weeks back. Looks amazingly refreshing.

It's not supposed to be realistic saw. There was an article about this on gamasutra awhile back.

Yeah, I've been tracking this from the start aswell.
It seems very original and therefor FUN

It's pretty amazing to see colours in a modern game nowadays though, I have to say.

After thinking, it seems like it would work a lot like Portal. Lots of flinging, lots of flying. Just no... you know... portals.

That was the first impression I got.

The gaming industry seems to realize how awesome FPS's are minus a lot of guns, but with a lot more actiony puzzles.

World's first FPR (First Person Runner.)
Posted 15 years ago2008-07-24 00:01:29 UTC Post #252917
You know what, this FPR game engine would be perfect for some kind of super hero game, like for example a Spiderman or Batman game, it would really fit well with these type of athletics driven characters.
Posted 15 years ago2008-07-24 00:20:50 UTC Post #252919
Hmm, playing as Batman would be pretty fun, with all the gadgets, not to mention the Batmobile.

Fuck yeah DICE. Do want.
Posted 15 years ago2008-07-25 11:51:58 UTC Post #252951
Heh. DICE suck. The only good game they have ever made is Battlefield 1946.
Posted 15 years ago2008-07-25 12:02:02 UTC Post #252952
1946? That must be that new one.

:D I meant 1942. I haven't played in over a year, and I'm bad at memorizing numbers.

Apparrently it's meant to be really fast-paced but the outlook is sceptical. Some say the game itself is really unique and clever but lacks in the delivery and is very linear in it's gameflow
Posted 15 years ago2008-07-26 03:47:03 UTC Post #252972
I'm hoping for an immense world at which you get pings for tasks and challenges that you can do at your own pace. Being a Courier, its a perfect setup for something like that.

'tis true, it seems linear even though they claim their levels have a variety of paths.

linear is best. non linear games confuse the shit out of me. though it is nice to have some freedom, ultimately the player needs to know where to go and what to do next.

If the game is linear, they can always do to what they do to some racing games: mirror flip the scene to reveal new trajectories. I know it works for race tracks, but I am not sure on how this method will translate on this type of game. Just a wild guess.

Tito: As for what I've heard you run around in the same city all the time, from A to B, and those points change depending on what mission you've taken.
Now, of course this makes the missions mandatory, but the way to move from A to B will be completely free.. unless they put these bullshit barricades in like in assassins creed.

That sounds great but from what I know and believe...It's like HL2 in that you progress through the story, level after level but have some choice in where you jump, climb etc...

Perhaps I'm wrong but I've watched vids and I swear I heard them say that somewhere.

What they don't show you is what happens if you miss a jump or take a wrong turn. It could get repetitive / annoying when your trying to judge the same jump for the 10th or 11th time having repeated half the level each time to get back to where you were.

It does look good though. Very unique.

Also, concerning Faith. I would. :P

Well, if it is like that then it would be a sandbox style but that would mean you would wanna go straight from point A to point B. Unless it's like Spiderman 3 where you have things to find but that would sound stupid for this game. (I nearly found everything on Spiderman, until my dumbass brother erased the saved games)

They say Prototype will be similar in the movement and layout to Assasins Creed, hey, the guy almost looks like him!!!
