Hey guys.

This is all down to an article I saw in this months PCGamer(UK) where they talked about streaming gameplay data between Supercomputers to low spec home setups and the like over the Interwebs. So for example you could play Crysis, Maxed Settings on an ASUS Ee PC jobby.

I have 2 PC's in my house.

My desktop PC:

AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5400+ 2.81GHz
2.00 GB of RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4670

and my fiancee's laptop:

Intel Pentium Core 2 Duo processor 2.00GHz
2.00 GB of RAM
Some cruddy built in GFx Card

I've created a wireless network up in this bitch and I'm toying with the idea of using my PC to stream gameplay between the two. Is this possible?

Nope. The technology isn't out there yet for the public to use. And a wireless network wouldn't be fast enough to churn out all the data that a monitor needs.

sure it could be possible on a lan network with a kick ass lan connection, something us citizens would not be able to acquire :P

As PB says, one would need to stream all the data fast enough over a set distance. Data that normally go's directly into the motherboard.

Not for realtime processes, but I guess for things like processing an information without needing to be real-time could be possible. The NetVis does this I think.

Wait, are we talking about remote processing?
I think it would be possible with some kind of killer compression tacked on.

Rim, remember that anything that gets compressed also needs to be unpacked. So it basicly moves the problem to the other end of the line, a thing you dont want.

A good thing is this new service that allows you to stream a game on the go, so you download the first 5 minutes, after that you start playing, then the game starts streaming all the required content.

Wait for 50 more years, where a 6 mb connection like mine ( and 512 kb/s as much of the people from my locality have) will be history .

When the internet will have the speed of a hdd, then this will be possible and buying a powerful computer will be a waste of money.

C, i think you have no idea about the current state of technology. I

even if it was rendering the game and sending you images, you'd still need to render all the pictures on your screen.

Rendering basicly is telling the computer when to light which pixel. so that can be done on a external rig.
