Microsoft released IE8 today.
After reading more about it, I don't see anything that excites me.
However, I did run into this browser called Avant. I have never heard of this browser before.

Heard of it, don't know much about it/haven't used it. Isn't it just a front-end for MSIE? If so, it's trash. Opera is still king.

i don't even know why you would pay attention to an "IE update" who the fuck uses IE besides stoopid people? (and i suppose you get a pass if a certain site you use MUST have IE)

The only stoopid people are the ones who don't realize IE is fatally integrated with their operating system, and disuse of that program does not remedy the security issues.

m0p: it uses the Trident engine, according to wiki. So yes, it's just a GUI for IE, keeping all the problems of the layout engine :/
CapT: 67% of all internet users use IE. IE has fuckloads of problems when it comes to security, as well as webpage rendering. Any update that improves these things could be considered interesting.
To sum up: MS need to force IE7 (at the minimum) to all IE6 users. Firefox would be better >_>

On a side note, does it seem as though the time between IE7's release and IE8's was incredibly short? IE6 was around forever.

It's just a way of generalising versions of IE that are not IE7. Although I guess I'll have to add IE8 and maybe a few others when I get time.

I've been using chrome too. Only switching to FF or IE if I need something Chrome doesn't support, and now I've found a beta Java plugin, I don't really need much from the other browsers now.

I use Opera mainly, but keep FF and Chrome handy for optimising websites. I never optimise for IE. People who use IE don't deserve to see my websites properly.
