I got a new monitor tonight.

I couldn't resist the Newegg deal. $250 for a 23" monitor is just too good to pass up.

Plus, all the rave reviews for this monitor just made me drool.

I'll let you know what I think once the monitor arrives.

I want to get everyone's opinion on the non-standard native resolution.

I Googled it for games. There are some people who played Crysis and WoW on this monitor, so it seems fine for gaming.

It's even more suitable for watching HDTV and videos. The 16:9 ratio is perfect for that.

Anyone else using a non-standard resolution monitor? How's it for gaming?

Half-Life 2 at 2048x1152 is an incredible experience.

I am glad that my graphics card can handle the resolution.

So far, the only problem I've had with this display is that the process of installing the base is truly brutal.

It felt like drilling a hole with a dull knife into the skull of a large mammal (no, I haven't done that before in real life, but I can imagine it).

So much force had to be used, and I heard cracking sounds from the back panel. I thought I was breaking it in half, so I stopped.

Fortunately, the monitor still works, and the image quality is flawless.

The viewing angle is better than my old monitor, and the intense contrast ratio shows pictures in such vivid colors.

Best of all, running games at such high resolution and size really makes the experience immersive. I usually don't have a problem with motion sickness when playing FPS games, but when I was playing Far Cry 2 last night at 2048x1152 resolution, I was feeling a little dizzy.

Too bad that Mass Effect does not support that resolution.

I am not planning to get Mirror's Edge. From what I read, the gameplay becomes very repetitive very quickly.

And it's not a true free-roaming world at all (unlike Far Cry 2). The paths are limited to a few options at most.

Widescreen's awesome, pretty much every game supports it nowadays. Nice buy, Satch. :)

It's absolutely nothing compared to Far Cry 2 in terms of repetitiveness. Mirror's Edge is a game that, while breaking no gaming boundaries, is a very unique experience. I quite enjoyed playing through it.

Far cry 2: HAI HEARS A MISSION THATS IDENTICAL TO THE LAST 15 MISSIONS UV COMPLETED AND U GET SOM STUPID DIAMONS LIKE BEFORE, SO TAKE A SLOW CAR TO THE SAME PPL YOU KILLED BEFORE KILL THEM AGAIN COMPLETE THE MISSION AND THEY WILL RESPAWN THEN U KILL THEM AGAIN AND DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN

Mirror's edge: I havn't played it yet, but nothing beats far cry 2's repetitiveness.

Pacman beats Far Cry 2's repetiveness, yeah, but its sad because Far Cry 2 is a recent game.

Just wait for Diablo III or Starcraft II. Can't really name any decent games on the list of releases... gaming right now sucks. :(

rimrook you fucking faggot i hope you ddint make fun of pacman

pacman is a unique and enjoyable experience where every game offers new experiences and fun new ways to challenge yourself. If you find pacman repetitive then you sir should go swimming, on a motorway.

Huh? I got it for $229. It's still $229 at Newegg.

This is the Samsung SyncMaster 2343.

...and I think BioShock was more repetitive for me. The levels are all very similar.

At least in Far Cry 2, I enjoyed looking at sunrise, sunset, and the mountain/jungle scenery.

In BioShock, it was Rapture, all the time.

$250 after tax and "environmental disposal fee".

$229 was the original price.
