ok. i've tried for two hours to make these textures transparent in the game. what i've done:

-created the textures divisible by 16
-changed the texture mode to "indexed color"
-used wally to make pure blue "0 0 255" to index location "255" using the translate colors thingie.
-set entity render properties to Normal/solid/255
-beat myself about the face and neck with a crowbar because this is not working

ok...my method for making transparent textures.

1. Create your texture in your program as a full colour 24-bit RGB make the colour you want transparent some other colour like solid red or black. something that wont mix with your image
2. Copy to wally and paste in a wad file (wally will convert it to a texture)
(note to make sure you add { at the beginning)
3. open texture in wally
3. Use Wallys fill tool to paint the blue colour located in the last bay of the pallet over your solid red colour.
4. Save

wow, i just figured out what i did. I did everything right EXCEPT the most basic, standard thing a transparent texture should have in half-life:

I left out the { in the texture name!!!! ULTRAFAIL (least it's working now)
