This is in reference to my "1:1" post (1 unit = 1 inch)

For some reason today I decided to measure my bedroom, created a box exactly to the "inch", hollowing outward... THAT does not work!

I only assumed that it would work based on Gordon's model size... shrugs :zonked:

Did you hollowed a box?

Whats an inch in cm? I might try it with my room :badass:

both things are wrong - hollowing and the unit convertions in hl :zonked:

just map by impression - its not that hard

Or wait for Half-Life 2 and you can do all those sorts of things

There's still no real conversion rate between the real world and your HL2 levels. Waiting would be wasting time...

yup, becasue all video games have a 90 degree player view.
whilst in real life you cna have 180 but for a computer game oyu would need ot stick more screens together to simulato the idea

It also has something to do with that monitors don't fill your real view totally, so a 180 degrees (this differs from person to person, and isn't simply a 180 degree field of view, I refer to the 'shadow' sides of your view that react on movement) in a computer game wouldn't look so good too.

Peripheral vision is the term. Why not press your nose up against the glass, then it fills your view :)

Now THAT is what all players should do! Why do we make it so hard for those game developers?

People seem to know so much about HL2, has it been released?
Posted 19 years ago2004-05-22 17:46:19 UTC Post #28271
you kidding?! Nah, but people watch demos (E3 fe) and download the leak :P
Posted 19 years ago2004-05-22 17:51:00 UTC Post #28272
Some people don't download the leak but follow the news closely. Like I do. :)
Posted 19 years ago2004-05-22 17:58:34 UTC Post #28276
If I knew something about coding I wouldn;t even bother downloading the leak... I'd try to make my own stuff ROFL
