Hmm true. I'll add some func_wall wires but not trims, The room is pretty massive and I don't want to destroy the r_speeds. As for the pipes; you can only see a small fraction of that side of the room, the other sides have a lot of pipes too. I don't think it needs any more. I can add some ducts though.

Here's a tip to skals about the Gunman Chronicles thing (even though you've been an asshole):

You should only use the models/monsters in the demo version of it. If you already are then, great. Because technically it wouldn't be illegal seeming as how the demo is free.

yea, same here.. I love that style on lighting and everything..

So I have to model some low polygon models so heres my first one,
Reference picturs that where used was images of 'my bloody valentine' and my fav 'equilibrium' movies.

I might add more polies to him to make him a thousand.. not sure though..

Oh man. That looks awesome.

I'm learning modeling for work now and I would love to get into producing decent low poly models. 2 reasons:

1) Quick, efficient, easier to animate.
2) Requires decent texture work to pull it off.

All I need to learn now is coding and I can make my own games. (or just make mods more interesting.) :D

wow Unbreakable, that model looks really good. Was that difficult for you to create? Considering I wouldn't know where to start with making a model, I'm curious to know how long it would take a professional such as yourself to create something like that (the way you described it made it sound like it was an easy task for you).

By no way am I a professional yet, theres some other work out there that would put me to shame :P.. anyways, the model took me about 5 and a half hours.. not really sure though, probably alot less, I worked on it on and off from sunday to yesturday. probably going to add two flame throwers to him.. not sure though.

Yea, totally agree with you, and depending on the platform, alot of the time the lowpoly character will be really small on the screen (psp, iphone)
which makes it look even better. And yeah, the texturing is what really makes it.

I got a lot done on left4beer in the last two days. I have a nice intro, all of my major trigger setups done unless I add more, a fully functioning addon folder, a new beer skin for the cola, the splashes and support graphics, some additional music, and almost done with the park area. Once that's done, I'll mesh the bowling alley, apartments, and park together to form the first map!

Sorry, no screens until the park is done, I can't show my intro because it will expose some things I want to be kept secret until played.

I like the lighting in the last one, If you ask me, looks like a big improvement from your previous maps. As for the yellow room, exactly the opposite. Boring lights, go fiddle around with the texlights or something.

looks nice joe tho that floor texture is ghastly; there are plenty of good HL textures, but that aint one of em.... (i think that texture is meant to be scaled down for bathroom tile, but i'm not sure)

The last shot is intriguing i love dark maps! =)

Rimrook: I CAN'T WAIT for your l4d2 campaign to come out. your map will be the reason i will finally buy l4d2. +)

Yeah, I think maybe they should be white. But, it doesn't help that the bulb is yellow :o

@ capt:

I'm not sure, but it seems to fit with everything else. I'm just trying to use un-used HL textures in this to make it not look like black mesa.

I would like to know how well constructed it is though :o

Here's a tip for you: If you want to create dreamy effects where the colour changes, rather than making the entire room yellow for example, use env_fade, set the colour to yellow, and set the fx amount to about 50-100. (The lower you make it the more transparent it is, you get the colour effect still though.)

Right on man, did you check out my HL2 heli? I made it all brushwork in HL1.. If I find it on here I'll link to it..

Anyways, so I just about got his leather coat and gloves textured, the coat was hard as hell to do, I still got a couple things to fix like the top of his head.. The black things around his shoulders is to hide a seam, which is just black right now, its got an alpha.. it all goes good though;

Rim are these going to be source models? And yeah captain. I'm trying to conquer source and release my first completed map. 1.7 months time left should be plenty. I've mapped everyday since it started, some days I've had more progress than others, but it's coming along smoothly so far.

Took me ages to get the car headlights to work properly.

The arm is credit to DiamonD who remade every HL model in the game in amazing quality/detail.

Diamond didn't make anything, he just pulled the materials together for the release. The arms were made by RavenGT. They were his second try at skinning the HEV arms.

Personally, I still think Hawx's arms are the best out there, but hey.

EDIT: The ones I have still look the best. I tried searching for a HL2 arm port, that'd be the only thing better.
