Well I haven't mapped much for about a week due to a break up and being cheated on. Mapping alone on my computer just makes me sad right now. Hope I can finish I have so much to do.

Can't wait to see your entry! As for me, it looks as though I won't be able to have a life for the next month. 
Lol I put fifteen hours in mine today. I just can't wait till the end, its good to see my maps stacking on top of eachother finally.

It sucks to know I may not be able to finish. Schools coming up in twenty days and with work and a busy schedule its hard to find time to map like I used to. And i'd rather do something all the way or not at all. And early extension to an extra twenty days or so would be nice even though we were given so much time in the first place. Anyone else agree? If not i'll just have to shun a lot of things and plan better. Hmm, plan better or procrastinate and beg for extension? I blame it on you guys for giving us so many extensions.

I've got selfillum and an alpha mask to work (finally) so the frame doesn't glow, but 95% of the actual lit up part is white, when the texture is green.
Tet: I could do that, but it really bothers me when I leave a part of a map unfinished- that and it looks like crap as it is now.

Maybe the Alpha channel has to be really dark? I'm just spitting ideas, I don't really know.

I figured it out; The alpha had to be an internal one (the $selfillummask function didn't work) And the TGA had to be save without RLE compression to keep the alpha intact. The tint seemed to be hurting it as well.

So, does the map have to playable ? As in does their have to be a spawn point, and does the map have to be like a real level like with purpose and monsters, i mean does it have to be somthing like a half-life 2 level ?
Also can we use counter strike mapping ? doesnt it technaicaly count as half-life ?

It has to run in the game you're using (Which can be Half-Life 1, Half-Life 1 Deathmatch, Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2 Deathmatch, Half-Life 2: Episode 1, Half-Life 2: episode 2, Counter-Strike Source, Team-Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, or Portal) But NPCs aren't a must if you don't want to use them.

in source you can go well over the entlimit anyway i'm pretty sure :/ not brushes tho. that shit will stop your map from compiling altogether.

I already saw the compo announcement, but as it was already on when i registered and i figured it'd been on for a while because it had 10 comments already, so i didn't bother.
Besides, i wouldn't really map for a compo if you gave me 2 years, i don't like competitions.
