Game is ridiculously fun. I know it's getting a lot of bad press, but I note that all the bad press seems to be coming from console gamers who have to put up with stupidly long load times and drastically lowered texture resolution. I'd probably hate it if I had to play it like that as well.

But I don't, so I don't :)

I'ma share some photos from my adventure in the Wasteland so far...

Here I am leaving the doc's house at the start of the game with my Steam-bonus Caravan armour on.

After a few days or so in the Wasteland, I ran into this guy... He had some pretty crazy ideas...

...Which I was more than happy to help him accomplish.

At some point I came across a seemingly abandoned, and unmarked on the map shack. On closer inspection, I found a door leading to an underground distillery with a sign which is just as confusing to me now as it was when I first saw it.

This is Cass. She's lovely, so I make her carry all my heavy energy weapons. Her ridiculously long-winded quest was the most boring in the game so far, but the XP it pays off is ridiculous.

I've had very few chances to play it, and it's somewhat laggy on my computer, especially during firefights.
Even though my housemates have organised a house party here today, I'm going to play it now. I'm not even out of the starting village yet. Hell, I've spent so little time playing it I don't even know the name of the village. D:

I've watched several friends play it and it looks just the same as FO3 to me (worse in some places), right down to the characters, combat and environments - what makes it better? I'm not trying to troll here, just genuinely curious.

Hng. I'm allowed a goatee too, ok! :P

Disappointingly, I wouldn't actually say it's better overall. But it's as good, certainly. The main quest is a lot more involving, the non-vats combat is VASTLY improved, there are a lot more memorable characters and you really have a lot more freedom to change the outcome of... Well, everything.
Fallout 3 let you finish the game by either being a dick and ruining any chance of the Capitol Wasteland getting pure water OR becoming a hero. Obviously there were grey areas in between, but the overall outcome was one of those two things.
In New Vegas, without spoiling any late-game stuff, I will just say you can completely and utterly change the fate of the Mojave area in a head-spinning variety of ways. This goes beyond "alternate endings."

I will admit, I am loving most parts of this game. Some of the quests are boring run-arounds while others are genuinly entertaining. The whooe aspect of how the game will play out is so gigantic it's hard to fathom when you're trying to decide what to do. So far, I'm playing all the ends against the middle until someone stops being useful to me, then they will be out of the picture.

And they still know how to make the creepy vaults too...

I love it, but I'm a bit pissed at the moment because Cass' personal quest made me kill a couple of NCR allies, and now I can't finish the main storyline the way I want to because they shoot at me if I go to hoover, and they've also dispatched rangers to kill me if I don't get my rep up. And if I defend myself, that will of course make them hate me more.
Is there any way to get my NCR rep up quickly without doing a quest? I've bent over backwards for them, and now they're gonna kill me.

Anyhoo, After being brutally shot in the face, I made my way, along with my lightweight leather armour and sturdy caravan shotgun, to a few towns, including one that had been destroyed by these assholes dressed as romans. Then I traveled to Novac, where I helped launch a rocket and avenge a death. Then I got a sniper to follow me around to kill the legion, (The romans) then I went to vegas, etc, etc. Nothing too interesting, and I was having too much fun to take screenshots.
Oh, and at one point I obtained a "Pimp-Boy 3000" then immediately reloaded my last save because it looked really stupid and there was no way to revert it to the old Pip-boy.

Tsk, you can turn the NCR against them if you bring evidence to them first.

At the very bottom of The Strip there's an NCR base. A colonel there will tell you that he's willing to forgive any previous attacks on the NCR if you do something for him. He also plays an extremely high stakes game of Caravan.

I've enjoyed my first 6 hours of fallout: new vegas, but wild wastelander perk has made my experience so much better.

First thing from this perk I found was a bettered fridge in the middle of the wasteland, looking like it survived an atom bomb blast, but it has the skeletal remains of an adventurer inside it, along with a Suave gambling hat. (get the reference yet? - Indiana Jones.)

Second thing I found quite amusing was being attacked by demonic grannies from hell armed with rolling pins.

There's many other fun stuff I haven't found yet too, But I know some events have also transformed for me, like the quest where the ghouls get blasted into space (or into ground), All the shiny guys companions turn into the aliens from the movie "Mars Attacks":

I think fallout new vegas is way better than fallout 3, and the only reason being the hardcore mode. It does have some minor improvements over all as well, the monster AI is better, the game is more fun and you can't just hoard heavy armor straight away from the start, you gradually find better and better items.

Just finished it alongside the NCR. While I would have liked to have post-game events be a bit different, I think I did pretty well.
Also, after I went back to make a batch of saves (In case they make a broken-steel esque expansion that lets you keep playing after the end) I started dicking around, and Rex told me someone fell down a well!

I decided to take a little "demo" run of it, as you will, and about 3 hours in, no crashes, no bugs, all considering it's also an illegitimate copy of the game.
With that said, New Vegas, in my opinion, is VERY different from FO3.

Hey hunter, haha you got attacked by nightstalks in a cave, but you have no idea how oh shit you will go when it happens to you in a desert.
I was walking along the desert during night time, it was very dark and I could barely see shit. Suddenly I see a red marker, so I run towards it... All I know is I got gang raped by a pack of 6 nightstalks, young and old at the same time (I was lvl 4 lol).

On a side note, have you guys fought these bad boys?
User posted image
They're called Cazadors, and they're ten times stronger than anything i've fought in the game (Besides brotherhood of steel) and that includes nightstalks. These guys have three times the health of a supermutant in the game, and they kill me in like 2-3 hits, me having a +7 DT and lvl 15 char. They are also uber fast, they fly at you in no time, which makes them very very deadly. I stumbled upon 4 of them in a Fiend camp, how did I kill them? Camp on top of a hill while I shoot at them for a couple of minutes till they die.

Btw, can anyone tell me where I can find the uber awesome granny? lol. I also seem to have lost rex as my companion, even though the courier robot who I fixt still seems to think he is in my party, Ill do the rex quest to fix him, hopefully that will work.

Oh believe me, I know the horrors of nightstalker packs in the desert, I just haven't been recording when I've encountered them :(

And yeah, Cazadors are insane. If you travel the quick way (not following the road) to Jacobstown, you come across their breeding ground. Fucking nightmare.
where I can find the uber awesome granny?
Lily? Jacobstown.

Huntey have you come across the Legendary Cazador? :D

Btw right now, im playing new vegas, and I just have to tell you guys whats happening...

I entered this vault, called Vault11... I went all the way to the bottom and found this console which needed a security key. After searching the entire vault I found it and then inserted it into the console. What happens then? The fliping desk in the office i'm in raises and opens up a place called "The sacrificial pit" WTF? So I go inside, and open the door. It's a long tunnel with light at the end of it, I slowly approach it while hearing a voice in the background go "go towards the light, the light is good!" So I do so, the closer I get the whiter the screen goes. It goes completely white for a moment but then it goes back and it turns out they're just a bunch of projectors. So I go into the next room which is completely blank but has a screen on the wall and a chair in front of it, the voice tells me to sit down. So I do so. It tells me my entire life and explains that I might be upset that I was chosen as a sacrifice. It then tells me to close my eyes, I don't really do it, but what happens then is the wall opens up with about 15 robots behind it and rape the shit out of me. I'm gona try to find out if there's more to this place than that.

Well there is always the easy way to get past them, run like hell, or if you don't want to die, you can go to the casino, it is very very easy to win massive amounts of caps in all the casinos. Just buy 1000 chips and roll away the slot machine with max bid (200). If you fail load your save and try again. One time I got 2 7-7-7's in a row, which gave me 6000 tokens each! Well, sorry for the ugly graphics, but I've got some screenshots too.

As I was wandering the wastes, I happened across a rest stop that was infested with those loathesome radscorpions. Seeing as I'm still a low level character, and one not particularly suited to combat, I could see that this was going to be troublesome. I tried tackling them head on, to no avail. I tried shooting them from afar, with the same results. Both instances they chased me relentlessly. I did manage to win at one point, but at the expense of all my dynamite, .357 ammo and most of my 10mm ammo. And then I noticed that the abandoned car still had its reactor in place. I led them on a chase around the building, once I was sure they were all following me I ran by the car, sinking a few rounds into it as I went past. The troupe of radscorpions was next to the vehicle as it went up. This was the result.

I happened to make my way into some friendliness with the NCR. But after meeting Caesar, I decided the Legion seemed like too much fun. Unfortunately, the problem with Caesar's tumor ended up... bad. BUT, I speech-passed my way out of it, and moved on. My latest issue? Assassinating the president... I'm set up, but I can't get close without the NCR raping me...

Also, the game suggested HIGH settings, but it causes HORRIBLE frame-drop, and even with viewing distances dropped greatly, and most all effects turned off, I still get a fair bit of nasty frame loss. I'm not running anything in the background so... anyone else getting this?

I do, which is why those screenshots up there are set to near minimum.
It's probably due to some kind of bug, Fallout 3 runs fine for me on medium to high settings, while those screenshots show New Vegas set to about as high as I can push it before the framerate becomes unbearable.
