I guess, basically, I just need to know if its possible, I set up hammer on my windows 7 machine and I've just been getting the most random errors that prevent me from compiling maps.

I know this is probably a shoutbox question, but if someone has actually gotten half-life mapping to work with windows 7, then this thread is going to get filled with a load of compile logs.

Have you turned UAC off?

For all I know, UAC doesn't pop up for me even at my current UAC setting (the highest).

I don't know if UAC causes issues, because I never have it turned on. I do know that applications that haven't been specifically coded for UAC (like hammer) fail under certain conditions, and do not pop up a 'grant access' box.

I think that if the compile programs are in the right location, they will work even with UAC turned on, but I'm not sure.

Hmm, it would make sense, considering hammer reports an error that access is denied, I'll try disabling it when I get home later.

You can get access denied errors when the destination folder (usually "Half-Life/valve/maps") doesn't exist. Make sure that all folder/file paths under "Game Configurations" and "Build Programs" are correct.

So do I, no issues here and i have UAC disabled and so should you. It's mandatory.

My UAC is set to the default and I don't have any problems with my Source mapping, and I'm running Win 7 Ultimate.
