30 Gig might be excessive, but I am having so much fun with this. The shooting is the best I've ever experienced - the fluid animation and physics engine is remarkable and makes every firefight hugely exciting.
It's also amazing that every part of it is rendered in-engine, from the cinematics to the main menu. Even the graphic novel elements are all done in-engine, with a very neat 3D effect with novel captions floating behind characters.
Some of the best post-processing I've ever seen in real-time. It also runs incredibly smoothly. Far better optimised than GTAIV or LA Noire were.

30GB christ almighty! i literally would have no space for the game, and would probably run shit on my 8800gtx.

Max Payne 3 looks like fun, although the full-on gore approach and macho attitude of Max puts me off of it for the time being. It's a possible character development from the previous games, but I still prefer the good ol' more subtle Max.
On antoher note, just finished Hard Reset. Was hard as balls even on easy difficulty. Loved the atmosphere though, it's as pure and beautifully vivid cyberpunk as it can get.

Yeah, they were all a killing spree, but the backstory told through the graphic novels and his ever building inner tension of nothing to lose and losing everyone he cared for - even if clichéd - had a more convincing style.
Now, I haven't played the third one yet, so I'm not fully aware of the backstory, but it's seems to be "Grab a bottle of Scotch, and kill everyone - oh yeah, there's that chick, too".
Again, yeah they're all Payne to the Max games, but the presentation of the previous titles felt closer to my heart

Picked it up plus all of the DLC while it was on sale for seven something dollars yesterday, and man am I glad that I did! Getting it set up was a pain in the ass thanks to Social Club, of course, but man is it worth it! I was thinking about it all day at work today, such a nice change of pace from my typical multiplayer regimen. I'm still quite early in the game, I hope it stays this good.
Graphics wise it's like a teeter-totter. There are moments of uncanny realism, especially in the faces. Then you run outside and realize that the city is spotless clean and the draw distance sucks. Most of the good scenes take place indoors though, and it looks pretty damn nice.
[edit] Social Club keeping me from launching again. First attempt it hooked on "synchronizing" and second attempt the game simply crashes before it even begins. Said to reinstall Social Club. So I did. Crashed. Said to reinstall Social Club.

I also bought L.A. Noire. I haven't got a high end computer, so unfortunately I can't play it on any high settings. Not all my fault though, the game is obviously extremely poorly optimized as I can play GTA 4 and BF3 on high no problem, while I have to pull the slides down to low just to get by the rain and night settings in L.A. Noir.
The game is good fun though. It's generally slowpased which is fine by me since I've always enjoyed adventure games such as Monkey Island, but sometimes it's too slow and too repetitive.
Why do they all have to run, seriously? Also, if I just torn open your stash of morphine with your name on it right in front of you then there is really no point in lying about it. This happens a bit too often. Over all it's a great game though.

I just started Alice: Madness Returns because I wanted to play an artsy game.
No, I didn't play the first one. With the story being such shit, frankly I don't care too much.
It's eye candy, and I'm enjoying it solely for that.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Picked it up yesterday with an extraneous Fallout 3 in a combo back for $20. Which is a good deal for Oblivion. And if my Fallout 3 disk ever gets scratched to hell, I have an extra.

DayZ is the first zombie game that can also be classed as a simulator. The map is about 250 square kilometers, populated by up to 64 players divided into two factions, (military types and rebels) and anywhere from 300-400 zombies.
It's the shit. It's got a learning curve from hell, and you need a nice rig for the game to look convincing and run well, but man is it good fun. You start with a bandage, a bottle of water, and a flashlight, and your first immediate concern is finding a firearm. Small farm sheds or houses are a good first bet, not as densely populated with zombies as towns are, and your odds of finding a gun and ammo without being mauled to death are a bit better. You have three resources to maintain- food, water, and blood. The goal is to survive the first day. Good friggin luck, you'll need it.

I think DayZ is one of the most amazing games ever, ever as a concept. I think making it on the Arma 2 engine was a horrific mistake. It's terrible in looks, performance and stability.

It's true, although IMO when you're running around in the grassy forests and stuff it's actually quite convincing. Pretty much everywhere indoors looks like a 10 year old game, the HDR is absurd, and BF3 has spoiled me rotten.

I was thinking more like the Ego engine they used for Red River. Clearly capable of similar scale, but just with the stability of a huge publisher backing it for several mainstream games.
Or maybe Avalanche Engine 2.0, used for Just Cause 2. Again, insanely massive scale and a recent mod for JC2 proved that it can handle stable netcode on a mass scale.

JC2 would be a good game for my summer sale hit list. Maybe Red River if it gets super cheap. I forgot Codemasters made things besides racing games, lol.

I think making it on the Arma 2 engine was a horrific mistake. It's terrible in looks, performance and stability.You're the first person I've seen that has made a rational conclusion on that.
Even if source lacks the technical edge that Bohemia's engine may have, it still looks consistently nicer, and don't even start to mention performance and stability.

Oh, wow, that looks great! The steam page made it look like Generic Modern Shooter: The Line. Is this a PC and console game?
To justify my posting, I have been playing NBA 2k12. Heads up to anyone thinking about it, it took hours to get working at all. It's still not working completely right, but if I play Quick Game mode only then I can at least finish games without it crashing. The steam trailer also looks like garbage. It's a damn shame, because the gameplay camera, when everything's in full-speed motion, makes it look almost like I'm watching a game on TV. After a couple beers it crosses that "holy fuck was that real" line.
I sadly can't suggest anyone get this unless they really love basketball and don't mind spending a couple hours (yeah, you read that right) getting the game not to crash at startup.

@Blitz: I dismissed it as another modern shooter too. Then I watched the ZP review and decided to check it out. I have a bad feeling that it's going to be overlooked because of its genre.

Sand and some pretty intense heat would do that to you. it is set in Dubai after all, not exactly cool there...
Also, the demo won't really tell you what the game is about, from what I gather. The game is meant to be a morality hitter about warfare and I personally think it's a nice change from the over-glorified story of the CoD series.
I look forward to being a cheap ass and getting it for PS3 on eBay. Seriously I'm totally been too broke to buy games new. Makes me sad...

MC is an awesome couples game, especially now that local LAN is coming, she can join you in your single player worlds and you can play privately at her pace.
