There's going to be a bit of a problem with this map of mine, gameplaywise:

I admit that the wpoly is not so exaggerated in reality in the walking zones, what's seen in the screenshot is a combination of default_fov set to 120 and the spot involved, which is inaccessible in practice. But the sad fact is that I have an average of about 4000 wpoly.

The map runs fine on my desktop machine (DualCore E6500, AMD HD4850, 1920x1080px), but I doubt this is playable on older computers(not that this is not old, it's 2014, we're in the future baby!).

I don't know even why I'm continuing this, I guess I just want it finished. I had the idea of making a ship map long time ago, maybe 2 or 3 years ago. I abandoned the idea of realism since :D.

The inside of the ship is explorable, but the focus is on the outside. I also have some stupid contraptions around there, you know me... never map without a trap! Well, not trap.. but it rhymes :P.

Suggestions?

P.S. I am actually clueless as to how I should place weapons, ammo, healthkits and whatnot...

Place weapons in locations that would give a player an immediate advantage.

I figured i'd jump into goldsource for a few weeks until i get bored. I have a 2-3 map series im working on. I'm about 90% done with map 1.
Don't expect greatness, i just want a functional map with working scripts and an OK storyline.
Also don't expect custom textures wink-wink - ;)
Also don't expect me to actually finish it. I've had straight inspiration for 3 days so far and that's rare so this might actually stand a chance.
That screenshot comes from a screenshot of a video of my computer screen. Which was cropped and edited with my phone and uploaded to imgur. It's about as lo-fi as you can get but i figured eh, wth, let's upload it.
I'll hit you guys with some better WIPS if i come up with some cool geometry.

everything is very boxy and generic right now while i get the scripts right

Striker - From what i understand from deathmatch, play around with it until you get a feel for the standard flow, and place the basic weapons, small health kits, and small armor packs in the general/high traffic areas.

Put the better weapons in harder to reach areas, OR in major chokepoints / arenas with little to no cover. So if you're going for the big gun, either you need to go FAR out of your way, or you'll most likely get picked off trying.

:) looks AWESOME for GS. Very UT like and i love me some UT :)

Player_equip weapons; finding weapons, "aint no body got time fo dat".

Well it gonna be a map for Sven Co-op with classical FPS game style. You shoot monsters and pick up keycards to open colored doors. Also secret areas with some powerups.

Aw hell yeah, I saw the Quake 2 styled grunts D.G.F. made for this map; nice to see the environment to go along with it.

I think this one would have turned out better if I'd made the texture from the base before downsizing it to a reasonable size, rather than bringing it down to 128x64 first.

Quite hard to judge texture-art when it's so low-res. Good leathery surface, though!

Just a thought... see what that looks like with, say, searchlights pointed out into the void. (Obviously with the transparent brush "light" coming out of it, otherwise you couldn't see anything.)

Edit: In the map I mean, not real life. Nobody gets to see "the device" until it's ready.

I can see the secret, it's right there next to the brush within the skybox, you know in the map.
