The TWHL Spring CUP 2015

With some delays, and wrestling with the source ds this is happening.

Game:
Counter-Strike:Global Offensive

When:
Saturday March 21st 2015 20:00 GMT

Server:
Tournament will be held at: 82.135.236.6 this time the server is in LTU so your pings might be higher than last time, source servers need more resources and there are few UK providers that have reasonable prices. However i assure you the link is the best you could probably get in this country.

Rules:
This is a drop in drop out tourney, meaning you can come in, play for a while, leave, come back play some more etc...
Each kill you score will grant you 1 ticket, with some new modifiers this time such as:
-AWP kills grant you 1 ticket
-Autosniper kills grant you 0 tickets
-Knife kills grant you 3 tickets
-Bomb defusal grants you 2 tickets
-Very special combo modifier worth 100 tickets :)

Tournament is for everyone, though only TWHL members are competing for prizes. Winners will be drawn randomly at the end of the tourney, more tickets give you more chances to win.

Prizes:
1. 20£ from Archie
2. 25$ Steam games from Captain Terror
3. 10€ from TJB

Map list:
Ive gathered maps from the VAULT as well as some from the Steam Workshop.
Each map will last 30 minutes, though if problems arise they could be shortened or skipped. The whole rotation should last 4,5 hours.
de_apache
de_deception
de_dragon
de_market
de_pripyat
de_rock
de_twostorey
cs_hijack
de_victorian

The archive can be downloaded from:
http://rufee.eu/twhl_spring_2015.zip

Fast downloads are enabled on the server even if you don't have the maps. Though if you have problems please get the zip.

Additional info:
Live statistics:
http://rufee.eu/twhl.php (to be updated prior to tourney)

TeamSpeak should be provided by guys from SnC, stay tuned for details.

Jump on the server to test the maps/ping right now :)

Yes please. :3
-Autosniper kills grant you 0 tickets
:( Guess I'll have to go plan B early, then. Which against humans will probably get me killed.

Scheduled an event in the Steam group.

Totally agreed re: autosnipers being worth 0 tickets, but deducting points for awp kills seems ridiculous. I can understand it can be overpowered sometimes, but surely there's better ways to balance that. :P

-AWP kills grant you a -1 ticket

Why? This is a stupid rule.

its stupid that i cant kill a guy in 1 click from any range

Use scout if you like sniping
Posted 9 years ago2015-03-18 18:50:24 UTC Post #324771
It's stupid that I can't use a gun that's expensive as all hell and gives me an advantage in long-ranged situations and basically nothing else.

I don't know, I've played enough CSGO competitive to tell you that an AWP's not useful for anything other than watching mid or long.

Why not follow the balancing rules set out in the game itself? The disbalance is already accounted for via kill reward money.

In that system an awp kill would be worth 1/3 of a ticket, SMG kills would be worth 2 tickets, shotguns would be 3, etc. I don't mind autosnipers being set to 0 (they can be insane in some spots), but an AWP is a great situational weapon that has perfectly legitimate tactical uses. And it's further balanced via its purchase cost as Dimbark said.

Its too easy, if i can do it in GO where i could not in 1.6 its too easy. You people just dont see it.
But to fair i will make it 0 tickets for awp.

That's still not fair. You say I don't see it, but I've played enough CSGO competitive to tell you that playing against an AWP is no big deal. The AWP should be 1 ticket, like every other weapon. You might as well make it 0 tickets for the M4 and AK because they're overpowered in close range.

I think the real issue, if there is one, is that this isn't competitive (well, it is, but you know what I mean). Most of us, I should think, are quite casual players when we play at all.

I, for one, would not miss the AWP. There's plenty of other weapons.

That said, it would make sense to pattern the tickets after the in-game kill rewards to some degree.

Uh... what are autosniper kills?
Posted 9 years ago2015-03-19 02:15:45 UTC Post #324781
The G3SG1 and the SCAR-20.

These are full auto sniper rifles. No need to pause and cock the bolt. Just aim and hold the trigger.

shotguns, smgs, rifles, pistols and is zeus same as knife?
he grenade kill ?
flashbang kill = 10 points ? yes you can damage some one with 2 hp hitting him on the head :D
Posted 9 years ago2015-03-19 09:25:51 UTC Post #324788
Shhh Malle you will reveal the secret combo :)

I have not perfected the system to track every different kill yet, once im sure its stable enough i will be able to make more interesting stuff :)

And by popular demand AWP is back to 1 tickets, mods please cross that point out.

Done. - AJ

Huh. Must have been a client error on my end.
The connect button was greyed out in the server browser, but it's not anymore - I just connected to the server to make sure.
I assumed the 'secure' tag meant it was password protected, but now that I think about it, it probably just means VAC.

Oh those. I was thinking some sort of autoaim and couldn't figure out how would anyone use autoaim.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I think all guns should have the same point score... I put more faith in CSGO's existing gameplay balance than some community member's opinionated kneejerk reaction on the subject. Sure, an extra point for a knife kill seems alright, but anything else seems unfair.

I did repeatedly tell Urby that the time was unsuitable for the Aussies, plus I'll be out 'til around 10pm like last time.

8pm GMT really only suits Eastern Europe for gaming. Central Europe will still be enjoying Saturday activities, America will still be at work & Aussies will still be in bed.

In NA, the start time will range from 1pm to 5pm, depending on location. Unless they work in civil protection (police/fire/etc.), or some kind of customer service, we typically have the day off.

Personally, I currently have no job/life, so I can play at (almost*) any time.

*Edited after realising that I'll be late because what little life I have will delay me this time.

Didn't mean to sound so bitchy, rufee, sorry! I know this is coming out of nowhere!

Can we maybe just delay it by an hour this time (9PM GMT)? I was really gutted I missed the last one, and that way I'd get to join in at the end. Plus it means Aussies don't need to wake up at 6am and Tawnos can have a life! ;)

It's going to take a hell of a lot more than that to get me a life. :P

The new date just happens to overlap with pre-release events for the new Magic: The Gathering set, which I enjoy. I'll miss at most the first 2 hours.

As for bitchy, having to get up that early is a pretty good excuse to be. Any time I have to get up before 12pm, I have a hard time.

Pushing it back an hour would mean that it'd be an 8am start for me on Sunday morning (NSW is currently in daylight savings time), which is perfectly acceptable.

Maybe have 2 floating tourneys next time to help account for pings, timezones, and schedules? (I think it was suggested before) Although, probably our kangaroo brothers will always have a bad ping :P

I personally can't seem to win with scheduling. Normally I get out of work every Saturday at 1pm, but of course my boss needs me to work all day this week... It never fails :(
