I've set up a simple scripted_sequence that plays the push_button2 animation on a scientist. He opens a door, walks through, and every time he says "I'm not so sure I want to go to the surface, what if the world finds out what we're doing down here." I've not told him to do this, so I'm at a loss as to why he says this every time. Is this sentence played by the push_button2 animation?

Huh.
I don't think that's a line any scientist says without something explicitly telling him to. You don't have a scripted_sentence somewhere that you've forgotten about, or something?

The sentence is played by the animation - if you look at the 'push_button2' animation in Jed's Half-Life Model Viewer, it says:

"Frame: 0"
"Event: 1008"
"Options: *scientist/c1a2_sci_darkroom.wav"

There's 'push_button' that is the same anim but without the sound tagged on.

Interesting. I don't recall any scientists in Half-Life's campaign that say that sentence during that animation. Thanks for the info.

It's in Office Complex. I never knew that sequence included the line... What an odd decision. Maybe they were having trouble getting the scientist to say his line using regular triggers.

Do any other animations include sentences like that?

IIRC some of the barney button pressing animations have the beeps and boops in their animation events.
But someone accidentally put them in the speech channel instead of the body sound channel.

Which actually have the rather comical effects of their mouths moving in synch to the beeps.

Huh, I always figured that Barney's mouth moving while pressing buttons was because of game limitations, rather than just forgetting to put the sound in a proper channel.
