I am loading the maps now.
Are they all Source maps?

Yup! 1x Portal, 2x EP2 (pretty sure "Crystalline" is for EP2)

I put the bsp in the hl2/maps folder, but I got a lot of texture errors.

It must be in the wrong directory.

Which folder do I place the bsp in?

Since two of the maps are for ep2, you'll want to place them in the ep2/maps folder and play them with Episode 2, that should work

I can't speak for CPripyatUit's entry, but mine definitely has episode 2 content and will be missing a lot of textures and models if loaded into anything else.

Same here, ep2 map. One of my playtesters had issues with their ep2 install so I tried to play it in ep1 for the lulz... checkerboard textures galore.

Phillip always used to include a "don't post your entry anyplace else for a month following the contest" rule, does anything similar apply here?

No, it's your content - it belongs to you and you can do whatever you like with it.

Coolio! I emailed the map to Don a day or so after contest submissions closed and they posted it to RTSL a few hours ago.

I'm going to check out the submissions at the start of my stream tomorrow, quite possibly with a guest! If you can't be assed checking out the submissions yourself, tune in and let us do it for you! (Don't forget to vote though!)

I kinda think it's funny the reason displayed by the website about why I'm not eligible to vote is that my account was created after the competition started... is the backend not able to link submission entries and user profiles and realise the far more important reason why I'm not to vote is because I authored one of the entries?

It's possible there's an automatic recording on Twitch, but I'm working on getting the YouTube archive up as we speak anyway, so I could just link that once it's up if you wish.

Don't worry, it checks that too, you couldn't vote if you entered even if your account was older

It just so happens that the check to see if you've entered the competition comes after the check to see how old your account is (because checking if you entered requires an extra database query and it's better to avoid those when possible) so you triggered that reason first.

Just watched it... seems I'll have to fix some stuff in the map. There was some I/O in place that was supposed to force the rebel off the turret and subsequently disable it but it seems it didn't work... might take a weekend to fix some stuff in the future, implement the ending I had planned at first, alter the final onslaught...

Speaking of map issues seen in the stream, I figured out what was going on with the button. I used the same exact setup as the official maps at first, but when I was testing the map, I noticed that the func_door_rotating that's used as the interactable entity was solid to players, despite the "Non-solid to players" flag being enabled. I think that and the "Passable" flag are swapped somewhere, since "Non-solid to players" makes it non-solid to physics objects and "Passable" makes it non-solid to players.

Anyway, since players can't collide with the entity, it's possible for them to get very close to the button. If they're inside the func_door_rotating and looking at a downward angle, they can't use the button. The only way to fix this was to make the func_door_rotating smaller so that the player isn't standing inside the button when they're close to it.

I checked in the official maps, and all buttons are like how the button in my map originally was: an invisible box around the button that the player collides with.

yeah, got issues in my map too. Didn't do as thorough a check of making clips for the models ( had the thought that disabling collision on all models would help with the large amount of models I was using, and then manually creating clips for them) as I had hoped. Jessie's approach to using the batteries to keep the door open was correct, I've never had it bug out like that when I was playtesting the map. Should've been more thorough!

I'm glad I submitted something regardless of the outcome. Might go back to submitting something Goldsrcy next time.

Finally got around the playing the entries. All certainly unique, even the two build within the same game felt vastly different to one another. Put my vote in for the one I felt had the edge. A few more hours and the results will be in
