I thought this thread already existed, but I guess not.

What games are you most looking forward to? Are there any titles on the way that you're grabbing on release day? Any hints of something possibly showing at E3? Grabbed an early access game that's really going places?

This is the place to talk about it.
Stuff that's definitely coming

Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
This Obsidian Entertainment title drops in just under three weeks. I didn't back the campaign, but I've been watching the developer updates on their channel. Pillars of Eternity is one of those games that I adore, but really need to be in the mood to play. Having said that, I am definitely grabbing this at some point.

Monster Hunter World (PC)
This has no official release date yet, but I imagine it's going to be a lot of fun. My getting it depends on the number of friends who are also interested.

Speculation and Rumours

Bethesda Softworks is holding their own press conference at E3 again this year. Last year's show was a bit of a flop, only running for a total of 40 minutes. A lot of their fans, myself included, believe that they were building up to a big reveal that was cancelled at the last minute. Pete Hines looked really uncomfortable on stage compared to his presentation prior to Fallout 4's reveal. Personally, I hope it's Starfield, a title trademarked by Zenimax way back in 2013 and potentially one of the two new IPs they have mentioned. This could mean that the game has been in pre-production since Skyrim release in 2011 and when into full production in 2015/16 following Fallout 4's release.

Also, Pete Hines has stated that the run up to E3 is their "Hell on Earth" time of the year. If that's not a hint of a DOOM(2016) sequel reveal then I'm a fairy princess. (I shall change my TWHL sub-title to "Fairy Princess" for the rest of the year if I'm wrong about this.)

Then back to Obsidian Entertainment again. They are also working on something publicly known only as Project:Indiana. It's being lead by Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky, two of the guys being the original Fallout games and New Vegas, my favourite game of all time. Pretty excited to see what they are working on with a much larger budget than the Pillars of Eternity games. I'm hoping on an open world, first person RPG, but there is literally no information about this at all, other than the potential name, The Outer Worlds, a 2018 trademark revealed by yours truly :P

I've been playing through Yakuza Kiwami and loving it to bits, so I'm excited for the upcoming Yakuza Kiwami 2, and playing through all the other Yakuza titles already out. They aren't new but I also have Bloodborne and Okami HD waiting to be cracked open for the PS4.

We don't know anything about them yet, but I'm keeping an eye out for Metroid Prime 4 and the untitled Pokemon game for the Switch. Lord knows it needs some games.

On the PC front I'm waiting for Routine (what the hell happened to this?), Call of Cthulhu and Overload. Super long term there's also Cyberpunk 2077 and System Shock 3 to look forward to. There's probably others I'm forgetting about.

I guess I could check out Monster Hunter World, though I don't really know much about it. DOOM II is a big "err maybe" depending on how they handle things (also stop rebooting these things with the same exact name, dammit).

Dream game: Flora's Fruit Farm 2. It's about due.

Ah yes, I forgot about Cyberpunk 2077. Word is we're getting a trailer and some more details from CDPR at E3. Hopefully a release date? Maybe??

This thread definitely existed. I know not what happened to it.

Well, there's my Steam Wishlist for stuff I'm interested in that already exists. I'm going to claim (incorrectly) that that counts. The outlier there is Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, which has no release date, but which will be kept at the top of that list until release or cancellation.

There's Monster Hunter World, which unlike these tentative fellows above, I am all about. If things go a certain way, I may end up playing it on PS4... which is not to say that I won't buy it on PC as well to play with the aforementioned fellows.

Dark Souls Remastered has my interest. I got into that game way late, so the prospect of actually interacting with the online elements of the game is a curious one. There's also a high chance that the PC version won't be the burning garbage the original was.

I keep an eye on Astroneer, Black Mesa and Dead Cells; all games currently playable through Early Access but which I will have much more interest in upon release. (Except maybe Dead Cells, which I have played in its current state.)

I don't own a Switch yet, but I probably will someday, so I've got a list of interest for that too. Yo, that LABO comes out tomorrow! It seems real neat!

I'll definitely pick up Valkyria Chronicles 4 since it's the first since 1 to get a home console/PC release.

On the mod front, I'm going to have to mention Fallout 4: New Vegas and Fallout: Cascadia.

The former quite obviously being a complete remake of Fallout: New Vegas (the best game of all time) and the latter being a new experience made by a bunch of experienced mod developers. Both projects are reinstating a lot of the RPG stuff that Bethesda stripped out of Fallout 4, hence my excitement.

Furthermore there are the Skywind and Skyblivion mods for Skyrim. I never played Morrowind and I barely scratched the surface of Oblivion, but both games look a little too dated for me. Hopefully these mods will be a suitable way to experience them both when they eventually release. :D

Update

While I'm not particularly hyped for it, RAGE2 seems like it could be interesting. The first game was a play it once and uninstall kinda deal for me, but hopefully Avalanche can approach the open world shooter with a little more finesse than Id did. :P

And now I guess I have to add Fallout 76, despite knowing absolutely nothing about it at the moment. That and Battlefield V could be interesting. I guess I'll wait for E3 now so that I can see what I think about it all.

Things that really get my interest rn:

GAMES

1. Mount and Blade: Bannerlord

I'd definitely play it, or upgrade my gear to play it. I'm especially interested in its modding tools.

2. Dark Souls: Remastered

Though I had heard that the hype for it fell low with release, I'm going to save up and try it. I actually enjoyed the original without DSFix.

3. The Dark Mod

Despite the name, it's a standalone game, and a great take on Thief series by its fans. Latest update gave us goodies like soft shadows, multi core optimization, 64 bit version, EFX for advanced sound effects and more. I'm hyped for further updates, as it'd make a neat development base for projects, GPL engine and all.
MODS

1. TES3MP

I'm yet to try the multiplayer TES3, but it sounds fun.

Sooo...

Fallout 76 is a complete flop... Woo... Starfield WAS announced in the loosest sense of the term, along with The Elder Scrolls VI both of which are a very very long way off.

In other news there is now a 40 minute alpha game play demo of Cyberpunk 2077, showing it to be very scripted albeit highly interactive and adaptive RPG that I am still very much in favour of.

The Outer Worlds has all but been confirmed with obsidian.net showing two retro sci-fi banners on their homepage at the moment and a big reveal coming on December 6th at the Game Awards where they are in the running for Best RPG Developer.

There is also a little isometric RPG called Encased which is heavily inspired by Fallout and a number of other beloved sci-fi franchises. Writing seems a little OTT, but that could be what they are going for.

A toothless open world survival game that does nothing for the fans of the genre, wearing a paper thin Fallout veil that does nothing for the fans of the franchise. Throw all of it into a badly maintained engine and unreliable server and you basically piss off literally everyone you marketed it to. Who knew?

Update

Less than 12 hours now until The Game Awards and the reveal of Obsidian's new RPG. Gotta be honest I'm pretty excited.

to the "Outer World", it's Bioshock meets Mass Effect.

I am actually playing No Man's Sky now. After years of derelict, this game is showing a sign of life finally. It was laden with hype and deceit when it was released, but after repeated updates, it's gaining some traction again.

I really don't see any Bioshock in The Outer Worlds. I'd say it's aesthetically similar to Borderlands above all else, with Mass Effect's approach to "open world" and Fallout: New Vegas gameplay and RPG mechanics.

I was interested in No Man's Sky after the Next update and the updates since then, but I think overall it's not a game that would hold my interest for very long.

Still pretty excited for Black Mesa which shouldn't be far away now hopefully.

Other than that not much - ACE Team (the makers of Zeno Clash) say they'll probably be announcing three projects this year so I'm interested to see what they will be.

Rage 2
Wolfenstein: Youngblood
DOOM: Eternal

Really hyped for those.

I cant see why Factorio isn't "out" yet, the game has been feature complete for quite a while now.
Maybe the GUI, but that really doesn't matter compared to how good the game is.

Going to add the Resident Evil 2 remake to my list. I was skeptical of this, modern remakes being what they are, and tank controls being near and dear to my heart, but then I played the demo. It might control like a third person action shooter, but it really looks like they haven't forgotten the things that make RE so cool.

The world design seems like it might be just as if not more complex than the original, with sprawling places to explore. There are hints at all sorts of puzzles, classic resource management, route planning and backtracking. Zombies eat up all your bullets in no time. It's moody as hell and gorgeous to look at (if you ignore the uncanny 3D scanned characters).

I am excite. Don't let me down Capcom.

I used to love RE2, but I would never have called it a horror game as much as it claimed itself to be. It's far too camp and my friend and I used to mostly just laugh at it. I don't believe I ever completed it though.

I must say, I am awfully tempted to try out the remake. I might try the one shot demo, regardless of the daft concept. I remember the original RE2 had a time limit on the demo as well, but you could replay as many times as you liked.

EDIT

Yeah... OK. Resident Evil 2 is now on my wishlist. :P

I remember being too scared to play RE2 as a kid, but yes, the classic games are pretty damn cheesy nowadays (and I love that too). They billed themselves as survival horror games, and while the horror part of that is questionable 20 years on, I think they still shine in the survival side of things! They're extremely great at building up tension by restricting items and information. Just super tight little games.

Well... this is a game changer. I never played the original, but I know it's reputation as a reactive RPG and the fact that Chris Motherfucking Avellone (actual full name) worked on it is a very positive thing.
Trailer is a pre-rendered time waste, but as least it confirms that the game is coming. :D

I was vaguely aware that a new Bloodlines might be coming, then I read earlier in the week that an announcement was imminent, and it's now been announced, so that's pretty good.

I really enjoyed the original - it was really grindy in parts but it had a great setting and some great characters. Hopefully the sequel is more of the same.

Yeah, definitely keeping an eye on that with Mitsoda and Avellone both involved. The original is flawed, but a very well written and moody RPG.

The Outer Worlds drops on Friday at midnight and I am so pumped. The reviews so far have been very positive, with the only real negatives being that it sticks a little too close to it's Fallout roots.

Personally, I'm all set for a decent Fallout game, even if I need to go to a whole new franchise to get it. :P
