I just searched on the tutorials and i cand fined out how to clip... i am trying to use the clipping tool but it just makes a line... im useing this http://www.snarkpit.com/editing.php?page=tutorials&game=HL&id=10 to make it mor fansyer but i cant clip help please!

Not a clue. I have never touched the thing, I use Vertex Manipulation for everything. Read the tutorials on that

Make sure the brush (box or whatever) is selected. Select the clip tool. Click and HOLD DOWN the left mouse button and drage the pointer around. See that line that moves? The all-white part of the brush is the part that will remain after you clip. Make sure the all-white part is the bigger side. once your done, you can let go of the mouse and press enter. Whalah! You have "clipped" of a chink of a brush!

If the whole brush is white then click the clip tool icon several times to toggle the mode.

Make sure you press enter before you click outside of the box.

This is because Internet Explorer shows the reply-post box in a fixed-width font. The posts themselves are shown in a variable-width ('proportionally spaced') font.

Fixed width font:
Every character, symbol, and space occupies the exact same width.

Proportionally spaced font:
A character's width is defined by the amount of width needed to display that particular character.

I think that'll have to go on the new forum readme.

When you press Shft+X, you switch between the 3 clipping modes. The first mode cuts away what's on one side of the clipping line, the second mode cuts away what's on the other side, while the third mode cuts along the line and leaves both sides further intact.

Off course this switching must be done before you press the enter...

If you started off VMming, as I assume 7th has, its easier to do it than to clip.

Clip is great for adjusting large areas, but remember... Clipping screws up the texture alignment and can be dangerous in the hands of the inexperienced.
VMing is a finer art and produces a more refined and almost error free brush.

VM is great, no doubt. it's useful for almost any purpose, but say you wanted to angle a circle shaped brush slightly, it's not possible with the vertex tool as it creates errors (try it if you don't trust ).
the clip tool is great for cutting a large brush up to the right sizes you want, without having to create a lot of new brushes (a pain, always).
to solve the problem of stretched textures, simply open the tex tool, highlight the texture, and tick to Face. that sorts it out

a good mapper will take advantage of all the tools, and exploit their pro's while avoiding the con's

I still find it amazing that he never, once in his life, used clip. You sure you didnt use it when you first started mapping or something?
