I hate em. Propably becouse i don't know how to use them properly. I REALY would like to se a tutorial on how to make realy complicated stuctures with it without any "invalid structure" errors. It's easy when making easy things, but not when i want to make something complicated (that's what it is for, right?). Ok, i know what are properities of those structures must be, but anyway, how hard i try, even if i think everything is alraight i get those stupid errors. Usualy i end with 2 structers that are not linked properly and looks funny(or horrible). Is it possible to learn using that thing :zonked: Even if my map is complete i often can't link 2 complicated object to look like 1. WHAT TO DO?

If you try and link things like pipes, its much easier to use the clip tool, just a thought.

For very complicated things like terrain, you should use a series of triangles or individual shapes to avoid these errors.

hmmm, still have no idea how ti fix my map. I have 2 "walls" like that
....w w/.... and want to close them putting another "w(wall)" inside those w|w|/w making something like a boat (i want to make a boat). I've done that, but it don't looks too good(used fix button : ). The problem is that walls are not so simple, so connecting them properly is also not so simple. :( Actualy everything looks right, don't know where is the problem, just invalid solid.

For cliffs and terrain, split everything up into triangles, that way, you wont get many invalid structure errors.

From another post of mine:

Some basic rules brushes should apply to are:
All faces must be totally flat. If they aren't, either make them flat or split them up into two triangles.
A brush must be convex. Let's put it this way: all angles between two neighbour faces must be less than 180 degrees.
No two faces may lay on the same plane. In this case, you should make one face of them.

Once you understand the tool, it's a very powerfull and actually easy tool to use...

Some things about the tool:
Selecting two vertexes (the yellow dots also work) and pressing Ctrl + F creates an edge between them.
Vertexes can be merged together. When you place them at the same position, you will be asked if they have to be merged.

You can use squares. If you get an 'Invalid Structure' error, go to that Invalid brush, and clip it into 2 triangles. Press Ctrl+X until both triangles have white lines, then fix it up so it looks normal.

If you want very complex cliffs/terrain, then it is best to use the triangle technique on all squares.

Hope this helps. :)
