I have a crusher that I am working on and when I look at the func_door (the crusher itself) parts of it are invisible, but when I look at it from a different angle I can see the whole thing, WHY??? Sorry if I explained that badly.

use func_train... Its way better! If you don't know how to, there is a tutorial on this site! :)

I turned it into a func_train and it helped a bit but I still can't see it.
I am looking at it from really high up and as it gets closer, you can see the entire thing; should I change the max view distance?

You did setup path corners for the func_train to move upon and add an origin brush, right?

You could adjust your max view distance, but try 8192 or a multiple of 16 to make it HL-friendly.

You may be using Software rendering: change it.

Yeha, he says it's from high up, so I imagine it's teh view distance, though you can never be sure, I am shocked to see people still using it...

In Hammer: Map / Map Properties / Max Viewable Distance : default 4096 - change it to whatever according to how far away you think the door is to where the player sees it, the number refers to grid sizes as well, so bear that in mind, if you add 16 you'll be able to see 16 units further hehe, probably wouldn't help you, but you never know!

As 7th said, are you running HL in Software mode? That's the most likely culprit. It stops rendering stuff after about 800 wpolys. If theres a lot of distance and a fair amount of detail, that will cause this problem.
