can u only make an overview using HL/CS 1.5? cause i tried it on HL 1.6 and CS 1.6 and it didnt work. i set the screen resolution to 1024x768 in Open GL and then put dev_overview 1 in the console and nothing happened.

It should work...have you got Developer mode on?
