Yep, my hammer still isnt working, i open it up , its fine, i try to start making a new map it freezes. Well i tryed again and its still happening.... i've tryed re-installing and stuff but nope it doesnt work, yet it works on my brothers user on the same PC.... any suggestions? :S

How far do you get in making the new map, and did you check the map for problems before compiling?

Reinstall Windows and get a new hard drive. Kidding.

Maybe you should try using a different version or something? What are you using now?

I seggest that you'll just use your brother's user, if he doesn't care. Tell him you can run a certian program only in his user, I'm sure he'll allow you.

Yeah thought so, its just easyer on my user lol. I dont get into the map thats the whole problem. It attempts to open a 'New Map' window but it automatically minimises and freezes. And it happens on both hammer 3.4 and 3.5

Also, im sure its to do with the settings, cause when i first installed it and it worked, it was in wireframe so while i was changing it to see the textures i accidently pressed a setting and thats when it started to freeze, any suggesions ?

reinstall hammer
delete all config files in the hammer folder

Well, couldnt ifnd any, this is all i got in the hammer folder after re-install.

Im guessing something is stuck on the pc even after an uninstall
Any suggestions on how to get rid of EVERYTHING that is hammer so that the next time i install its at default settings?

Is hammer the only thing that doesn't work?

First you need a good magnet, Then open your computer and drag the magnet over your proccessor, PCU and hard drive

Well hammer works..... but everytime i try to start a new map this happens....

It freezes

Post your hammers configurations. Everything in the tools-> option window! I think something in there might be the cause of the problem. Since the configuration only apply to one user only(at list on my mechine) you might have done something wrong on your user and didn't repeat that error on your brother's.

And that was the configs we didn't need to see... The other 2 that you didn't show is probably what we want.

No rednik, these are the ones I wanted to see. The problem is with hammer not with the game or the game configurations.

Edit:

Nothing special, maybe you should lower the undo level. Lower it to 20. I don't think you'll need 20 undos but you might. High undo levels are a cause a many problems. Mostly lag.

Nah mate its still freezing

OK, Just installed Hammer on my friends computer and he has the exact same problem as you. Compiling problems and even the grid shown on first startup.

I have tried to figure this out, and what I have come up with, is that it has something to do with his steam account name, being is email address, contains both '@' and '.' (Dot) This seems to confuse hammer, and it puts the bsp file in his account name folder, under 'steamapps'.

Do your account name contain any special chars?
