1MB silly, but you can always post the zip in the map vault.(the zip will hopefully wont be as big as the bsp) :P

So if you only submit that bsp I believe it will be possible to submit it strightly into the compo. ;)

100% finished, only need to compile, once for testing then the last compile. I'm now positive I'll enter, just hope it wont be like the last compo I've entered.(only 4 enteries) :(

Yeh I think I was to ambitious. If I will release it now it will be a huge waste.

I think I might be more sensible for me to keep working on it and release it as a singleplayer episode in a few weeks :aggrieved:

Maybe I'll whip up a quick entry instead and see how it does

Hey my computer is so funny. It runs a 800 wpolies map on 20 fps, and it also runs a 5000 wpolies map on 20. Strange thing, but it's better then what I expected, I thought my map wont run. :glad:

My room has a normal of 2000 wpolies and when looking from one side to the other 5000. Now for the final compile! :) I'll need help with hosting, the bsp is much bigger then the map file... 3mb! And it's not all, I also have models, sprite and wav. : I assume that in the zip it'll be approximetly 4mb.

yea i will probably need help hosting mine too. Lol while making my map, half way through, hammer became so slow that it took like an hour to apply a texture so i began making the other half of the map on another map file and when i finish today ill past it all together:) tightness.

Oooo... just compiled it for the second time. I wouldn't use rimrooks ultimate r_speed cytalyst on maps with single rooms, it raised my r_speeds by 900 instead of decreasing them.

Overall I can say my map is way too dark but I can't really change that now, I already compile all the times I'm allowed by my brother. The map is quite dark, if I would have raised the brightness of all the torches to 100 instead of 75 it would have looked alot brighter and still nicer. Yet this darkness gives a cool gloomy and creepy feeling. Gets you in a mood and you feel like you really are in a time when the lighting wasn't efficent- before the electric light bulb. Also it high lights the areas that are brilliently lit, like the body of water in the middle and the statue. Oh well. :tired:

zeeba-G, if it takes you an hour to apply a single texture, it may take you days to paste the two maps together when you're done. Just a thought. :P

I dont think it's fair to threaten to end the life of TWHL compos unless people enter water...

oi the deadline isn't ever up yet .... btw I didn't mind the idea

I spent weeks on my entry but it got to complex so I'm planning on making it into a full singleplayer map instead of just releasing a rushed half-done entry.

Also you can't blame the community, if your obviously not attracting as many people as you would want
Maybe prizes would give people a little more insentive to put effort in. For instance, one thing that put me off entering my map (which I took ages to develop) into your competition was the fact that anyone below 3rd never even gets a mention no matter how well they did

We have had special mentions in the past, if you happened to look at previous compos.

I have absolutely no control over the competitions whatsoever.

well i havent submitted mine yet, im almost done, but when i do, im almost sure itl be too big so what the heck do i do. and i have to make it into a mod just because i have 2 custom sounds...can i just include em in the file?:) yall sayed i could when i only had 1 custom sound...

im done with my map now but im runnin into some issues. I have 2 custom sounds and 1 set of custom textures. I use hammer's compile tools so when i press f9, ive tryed typing $file$path -wadinclude metalandbluetextures all over the place but i dont think its working. And when i compile my map in half life, how is the sounds supposed to work when i run it through my newly created mod. it would be awesomejawesome if yalled just let me slip by w out makin a mod bc im runnin out of time and i realy want to enter my map.

Enter the map without sounds or replace them with sounds from the pak file. There are water sounds for HL, so I don't know why you needed custom sounds for the compo :quizzical:

Entered mine now, not source.

Zeeba-g: As a last resource, try -nowadtextures on the csg command line. Includes all textures.
Put the sounds in half-lifemodnamesound and they should work.

how exactly do i enter commands, they wont work. I push f9, select expert, select new, click cmds and chose csg program, than click parms and type "-wadinclude metalandbluetextures.wad" or w out . wad at the end. Did i do something wrong?

Thank Luke. He directed me to it, and I'd been looking for something like it for a long time. However, it's brand new (forty-something members), and it almost looks like it was designed by the same person that made imageshare.co.nz, which got fuxed by hackers and lost all its data.

Well, yeah, I saw that one small bit of the pond, and I thought it might be raining, but it's not all that noticeable. I wouldn't associate that picture with a water themed map if it wasn't in this thread. Also, the skybox is the default desert, and there ain't no rain clouds in that sky.

well when its rainin on a sunny day , the devils beatin his wife:) yea i looked into a bunch of skys but for some reason i thought this one looked the best. alien 1 looked pretty kewl too but its only sprinklin so sunny it is...
