A WIP so preliminary and non-stuff showing that I'm not sure why I'm posting it. I've been working more on figuring out how my entities are set up, and I can't really show that.

It's set in a tower in that there is a set size for the floors and there will be a city outside any exterior wall windows. You can put absolutely anything within those walls.

From the creators of "The cake is not a lie" and "This is not a game" comes: "This is not a tower". A game with countless (0.07) hours of gameplay, with one new gameplay element: Looking at a sign that says "this is not a tower" until you get bored and quit! Fun for the whole family! Avaivable at Cream Digital Games this summer (we don't specify when or what "this summer" is).

Hey Urby, is there any update on the skybox texture and lighting values? I threw a couple of windows into my map and I'd like to see how the lighting suits the mood. Would anyone find it remotely plausible that in the space of reaching my floor a thick layer of fog rolled in outside, it started raining, only for it to all disappear by the time you made it to the next floor? Heh.

My map is probably 85% finished, I might have it done this weekend. I sorta went nuts with custom content so I'm just going to apologise ahead of schedule for the download size!

Urby, whereabouts will the changelevel be for the maps? I'm unsure how much free reign I have over the stairwell area

I'm just going to position the change level and weapon stripper based on whatever room has been left available so don't worry too much about it. :)

Probably. Someone might have done a parkour level, with the eit platform just enough distance away to be unjumpable normally.

Might have to drop out of this project, want to focus on importing models, and I've neglected my RL for a month now.

Also, dat ceiling is low. Makes sense for a building, but I wanted to do a night club that was two stories tall with a giant fish tank.

Sorry Urby, can't wait to play this thing. I'll join next project for sure!

Make it two maps with a trigger_changelevel in the void between the floors :P

Now that I think of it, if Urby happens to put them in a different order than one directly on top of the other, it could be an Antichamber-type mindfuck.

I would say to just make it two levels and I'll make it the last floor before the rooftop finale, but it seems unfair to everyone working within the current constraints.

I actually have an idea for a second project so don't get rid of your work. :)

Second project will probably come after the Core though.

It also takes a lot longer to make something in Source and the tools are always broke.

All the really good Source mappers are in a kinda weird place right now. Interlopers, notably, where there were once 10 map showcases a day is now lucky to have one map posted a week.

The current tools are so broken and everyone has kinda put their attention towards the Source2 beta tools released with Dota. It will make a resurgence when Valve release a game on it.

In terms of Source in its current state, pretty much only CSGO is being mapped for on a large scale, mostly due to the very successful Steam Workshop - but that'd be useless for a collab like this.

For the moment, and I say this with gritted teeth, Source simply isn't the best option.

What Archie says. Plus Source is a weird engine half stuck between semi-modern features and old methodology. It's not enjoyable to work with at all. I'm simply waiting for Source 2 to drop, because those alpha tools are fantastic.

I'm also enjoying mapping for HL again in the meantime, especially with Spirit. I'd definitely be up for more projects in good old Goldsource.

I'd better get cracking on this. I've mostly been messing around with trivial details when I should be getting the progression underway.

I've learnt enough about source to do the vera basics. I made a simple map to use in my SFM project which I put on hiatus until I got better at SFM. I also made a simple TF2 map for mess-abouts. That's about it, unfortunately.

You haven't seen all the Source 2 stuff? Check out the DOTA 2 workshop tools, the new version of Hammer is absolutely amazing. I can't wait for a full SDK game to drop with those tools, it should be great.

I don't play games like Dota 2 and all those other fantasy games.
By the way, isn't Source 2 that engine Valve is still working on, and that haven't even been confirmed to be released. Besides, I bet that Dota 2 Hammer editor is exactly the same as the standard for every other good singleplayer Source game.

I hope you realize you just said there are no good singleplayer Source games.
Because I've looked at the DOTA 2 tools firsthand, and they are drastically different.
Primarily using meshes instead of brushes, for instance.

Oh, so you won't be using that ugly brown thing celled "city" that for some reason are in the Half-Life game files? Good.

How will your adventure through the building conclude? Are you planning on a story to bind all the floors together?
