Apparently the guys that did the Columbine shooting in the 90s made their school in the Doom map editor to shoot it up too (before they did so in real life).

This is one of the kindest, most productive communities it's possible to find on the net. If you want to have a rant about shit at school, I'm sure you can find someone here to listen.

If it's a well-known school or college, please don't map it. For example, my school doesn't care much about that map because I told my teachers about it. And so, everything went fine in my scenario.

I really don't think you should make a map of your school.

10 years ago people used to get vanned for doing that sort of thing; and i think by now most people have just stopped doing it for the connotations it has. I'm going to be honest, your post doesn't exactly make me think you aren't doing it for similar reasons.

I made my school map for fun.
Although, the 7th-grade me still hated school, so I might've had that little handful of hatred back then.

However, since I was going to that school and I still am, it was much safer (and useful) to make an in-game version, instead of blowing it up in real life.

I made a map of my house before for Archie for a X-mas gift. Fortunately he didn't shoot it up. And be careful what you say on the interwebs, the authorities will probably find a reason rightfully so to get you some clearly needed help. You should seek some help yourself, just talk to your family or anyone about how you feel.

And as for me, I didn't like school either. At some points it was nearly impossible for me to even walk down the hallways. That is until I found clay/ some outlet for creativity. Just find something you really enjoy doing and focus on that.

I once tried to make a map of the school I attended. Not because I hated it, but because it had a very interesting architecture - or lack of. At a glance it appeared to be a random mashup of hallways and classrooms built as they were needed, and the layout was quite random. As a HL map it never got far, though. I actually liked that, there was always something new to discover or a new area to explore. As much as I wanted to, despite how extensively I tried to explore it, there are still parts of it I never saw or set foot in. Such was the charm of that mysterious maze of a school.

You, however, seem to have different reasons. It appears there is a lot of anger inside you and I personally believe you should let it off in a different way. But that's beyond me. So I'll just say have fun without harming others.

Taken architectural inspiration, sometimes, but never tried to 1:1 the layout. That's just... no. Don't do that. If you hate your school that much, talk to someone about it, and switch schools if possible.
And if you're stressed out and angry, do what I did when I was around your age and make a HL mod that's literally just funnier models and sounds and go through c1a0 with impulse 101 a bunch of times to blow off steam.
The scream from Immigrant Song makes for a good grenade launcher sound for these purposes.

EDIT: Actually, I don't know if you have access to an N64, but playing Goldeneye on Runway with all guns, invincibility, and infinite ammo also made for a good stress reliever, what with the infinite spawning enemies.

Get a job? You're funny. Let me tell you what school is. The educational standards in my country dropped since the 80s and now schools are producing tools every day, thats exactly what they are doing, making tools out of their students, because school kills creativity and is just obedience training for a shitty 9 to 5 job most people nowadays have, tools because they arent good for anything but work. why else do you think we wake up so early?

Because school is training for a office cubicle job where you will be doing document formatting or code cleanup for some it company that treats them badly, or else 'sales manager' lol. I dunno about other schools but thats exactly what sort of job people get at my school after graduation.

I hate my school because the education sucks, the teachers are bad at their job, and this is exactly why school shootings happen in the first place.

If your attitude towards school is so poor, how do you expect to excel at the things that don't "kill your creativity"? It certainly wouldn't be hard to imagine that you would continue to blame everything in your environment for your own issues.
I suppose i understand though, if you blame everybody else for your own shortcomings and lack of ambition, then you're likely to find others that support and share your attitude, rather than having to do the hard thing and simply accept that sometimes you have to deal with things not going the way you want them to.

You aren't the only person with a grudge against the bad, corrupt "system", and it's an incredibly cheap cop out. Everybody has had to deal with issues in their environment in some way or another, whether it's been school, work, home life or whatever is relevant to that person. Some of them spiraled into a whirlpool of anger, depression and paid the price, while others simply accept that these things happen and moved on.

You're not special, and if you think that you will be if you just let out enough anger on others, you are sorely wrong.
It's hard to appreciate your life when you're either dead or locked up in a freezing cold cell, being told when to sleep, eat and have "recreation time". I've been there, and it is the last thing I would want to do again. If you go on the way you are you will end up there, and I don't imagine they're quite as cozy as Canadian jails if they're as bad as you claim your schools are.

If you choose to life a life of anger, you're going to run into somebody who's a lot angrier than you, and you can only hope you get your wings clipped rather than completely cut off. You'd be surprised at how humbling the experience is, and how quickly it reprioritizes your life.
Take a deep breath, everything's going to be okay. The world is not going to end if you have to deal with school for a little while, and before you know it you'll be looking back and smiling at how silly you acted. You'll soon be on your way to complaining about bills and work and so on.

Schools teaching the working class on how to work? Huh, I always thought School was to pass time.

then grab A fire extinguisher and spray the shooter in the face blinding them then run at them and hit them in the head with it.

But the problem is the fact that some girls will just yell at you not to confront the shooter, and then when he comes, one might go back and pull you and you'd both be dead, haha.
One of the reasons to make a school map is to simulate a school shooting (some might do it for positive stuff like practicing evacuation, while most will just do it to kill their teachers in-game, lol).

Though, my reasons to make a school map were:

• the will to impress my classmates
• 'hate' towards school (I was in 7th grade, lol, there were still some bad grades)
• simply for fun, I like destruction but I didn't know what to make

Never wanted to kill any of the teachers, they all are good and interesting people. If one hates his school then in future he will probably realize how good it was.

I've made a map of my high school. It was a CS map and we had to rescue hostages from the courtyard. Terrorists took the school over and the CTs had to enter and clear it out. It wasn't made with any plans to actually shoot the place up. It was a map that I could share with my friends and have fun on.

I made it because i knew that place inside out and if I wanted to shoot the place up (which I didn't) I wouldn't need a CS or HL map for practice.

That map taught me two things 1) that I love mapping and creating and it's a fun challenge. 2) TWHL.co.za (old website) is the place to go for a warm welcoming community that offers constructive criticism and helps you improve your mapping.

Also, thanks to this website, I was noticed by a publisher and got paid to write a book on the source sdk. I'm published because one day my friends volunteered me to make a map of my HS and I stuck around to improve my skills. That's probably the best case scenario for making a school map in a FPS but this was 13 years ago and a lot has changed. Games have become more mainstream and the media overreacts and causes panic if they catch a whiff of anything that can become a school terror event.

I hate the idea that school breeds sheep to not think. There's a lot of things I think some schools are doing wrong (basing curriculum around standardized tests) however I'm a better person because of the education I have received.

Haha, you're definitely not alone. In my school, the teachers like me more than my classmates like me. Though, I've got much more familiar topics to discuss with my classmates than with my teachers.

In fact, I demo'ed my school map in class and everyone was kind of positive.

There's one teacher in particular, though. My Bosnian teacher. She just hates video games and believes that games directly ruin people. But we've never made each other angry about that topic.

In my opinion, it depends whether someone should or shouldn't make a school map. It depends on some things.
I'd not recommend anyone to make a school map where you kill teachers, haha.
But if you want to impress your classmates, maybe do a school project like that, then definitely yes, lol.

But then wouldn't his anger be gone if he spends time and effort into the map, realising that the semester is over?
