its... k.. needs more. and lighting hurts cos in some parts i need to really strain... half-decent.. work on your architecture and lighting and this will become a great map.
It's for Half-Life 2 (now that the designation problem is fixed I will update it to reflect that).
Onslaught, due to the limited description space, I was unable to put a disclaimer in about the level's low LOD. I built the map that houses the Tumbler exclusively for taking the screenshot, not as a showcase of my mapping skills. As a note to everyone, the map that the Tumbler is currently in was made in 5 minutes at most, and it is NOT the level that the Tumbler will come bundled with when it is finished. The Tumbler, I'm sure you'll agree, is of Half-Life 2 quality - but, not having been able to warn you about the terrible tree-work and terrain, I can understand why you mistook it for Half-Life 1. I will be making some sort of city/road level for the final version, so please don't despair that there isn't a lot of driving room.
To those posting about Alyx....shudder yes, I know that exists, and frankly, I think they've taken this whole Alyx thing MUCH too far. I do NOT endorse nude models or digital exploitation via Garry's mod, and I only put Korin in my screenshot to make a pretend racing poster, where there's always a bikini girl and a fast car (in this case, a jet-car).
Also, here's a list of features I intend to add later (please feel free to suggest any others):
1. Usable rampless jump via the rear jet engine 2. Tweaking accessibility to the cockpit 3. Weapon systems controllable from the passenger seat and sub-weapons controllable by the driver 4. Visual tweaks, such as visible exhaust and fire effects when jumping 5. Custom engine sounds, perhaps custom textures (although I think it's quite accurate as it is).
In any case, I welcome all comments, so please, with the above in mind,...um, comment away!
Ok i fixed it. Your vertex manipulation was infact very messy. I removed a couple of walls and floors and remade them, with proper vertex manipulaton. Your map is still the same.
There were 3 leaks:
1. Because of the messy vertex manipulation, there was a tiny little crack where the floor meets the wall. Fixed it.
2. You had a func_door on really strange place, i removed it and made a regular brushwall at that spot. If you it was your intension to have a door there, im sorry.
3. The large tube was badly made and its vertices were not lying on the grid, even in the closest zoom level. So i remade it.

My review: ************** +Nice texturing - it all looks nice and clean +Dead hostages. A breakthrough in cs mapping +Good layout, lots of camp spots +Low r_speeds +Cool Terrain *************************************** -No ambient sounds -It needs something in the middle to fill the open spaces. But since this map is unfinished, it looks great 4 stars

The reason it was dark is because the Ravenholm chapter is set at night, so I thought it would look a bit odd if there it was lighter. I would also like to hear some comments on how it plays

I don't have hl2 either, but i can comment from the screns. To me it look rather dark, maybe a lighter setting would be more suiting than night. I do like the theme and the props fit them nicely. I like it, but how well does it play?
I probably should delete this map...
The map pack is an excellent idea, and it is what I will do with all my other maps once I finish my site.
I probably will add alternate routes and such to make it less monotous and possibly do some tweaking to improve overall gameplay. Thanks for the tips.
Wow, I get 50+ fps on it easy.
Tweak your settings some.
Thanks anyway.
they're still good for 1st attempts.
Anyway nice map, lighting is pretty good, Try making it SP as well, I would download!
