I played the original DayZ, but I was never good at it because you had to go to specific locations to get specific items.

But this sounds like a massive improvement, I really want to get this, now.

It's like Skyrim with guns!

@Dimbark, watch videos. Zombies are massively improved. They can clip through most things at the moment, but their pathfinding is so much better. Also, I'm a sucker for customisation and although it's currently limited to skin colour, shirt colour and shoes at the start, you can wear whatever you find when playing. Earlier I was running around with sunglasses under one of the PAYDAY masks under an army helmet. Then a zombie smashed them all off my face. :(

@Tetsu0, it is a bit good. Second session was on a different server but you rejoin in the place where you logged out regardless. I was going through cars, searching for stuff on the seats when I realised a player was going through my backpack. Span around and cocked my rifle, but he was unarmed and did a runner. Would have shot him if I wasn't bluffing with the gun. Bloody thing was empty.

You won't find any gold plated contacts in such old tech. There aren't even SMD components!

The amount of gold you MAY be able to recover from that may be a bit, but still good.. I know this guy who got around 1-1.5K $ from selling the gold recovered and cleaned from these electronics.

Yes, you understand the naming scheme correctly. A x60 will kick the ass of a x30 generations ahead of it.

Take that back, it's a crappy "zotac" 450 gts Eco 1Gb... I think 2 gb would end up doing me better; getting lagged here and there and know this system has WAY MORE POTENTIAL.

Repeat: It's a Zotac GTS 450 1GB ECO graphix card.
Commented 10 years ago2013-12-20 19:42:30 UTC in journal: #8307 Comment #55991
Sure man, but isn't a 450 a better card then the 630, or do i not understand Nvidia's classifications correctly?

edit
check this ghost before offloading your card ;)

Dude! CT!

If you do have or plan on getting a new GFX card, PLEASE let me know! I'm stuck with a NVidia GTX 450 and could REALLY do with a new one!! Used or not...

I know there are tonnes on the net, but just, like... Lemme know.. If you decide not to sack it off.. Archie beat me to it and sacked his off before I could grab it...

(Can talk more on PM, trying not to flood your post. ;) )

If money is tight, I'd suggest an older high end card.

Nvidia 8800GTX, 9800GX2, GTX 260\GTX 295. All of those are solid cards, but the 8800gtx is the lowest end of the selection, and really only if you're truly hurting for money.
Commented 10 years ago2013-12-20 19:00:25 UTC in journal: #8307 Comment #55989
I only noticed after i bought it what a low-end gfx card it comes with(i understand the distinction of Nvidia model numbers now), but hopefully with the other specs i should have a major performance increase from what i'm using now =)

What card would you recommend Elliot?

Ghost: i will add the specs, ty ;)
Commented 10 years ago2013-12-20 18:58:01 UTC in journal: #8307 Comment #55994
An impulse buy is okay so long as you realize it's an impulse buy.
I initially thought a x30 card would be complete shit, but a second look on youtube shows it's actually a pretty solid card for gaming. Easily enough to hold you over until you upgrade to a faster card.

too paranoid to say that this happens on a daily basis but people having zero control over their smartphones, even if it's off you don't know what's happening inside and with today's unlimited amount of processing power and storage, this fucked up system is capable of obtaining pretty much anything and everything about an ordinary person

Stu: Sorry, it's the book by Daniel Suarez, which should have been every result on page i linked to.

It's a techno-horror about microsoft/google-type company's basically sentient program, that has access to military weapons like predator drones, and many other nasty things =)

If you haven't read it you should pick it up right now. (Big thanks to Tetsu0 for recommending it!)

The year is 2199. We've been fighting for decades, there are not many of us left. There are fields of bodies, and mountains of skulls. No matter how many we kill, they keep coming. We are the humans, and they are the googles.

Nah, it won't stick.

I don't know what to think about Google acquiring Boston Dynamics. Ignoring any ethical considerations (positive or negative) of having military robots, I've always liked the company for their innovation and furthering of robotics. Google is a very famous innovator, so that is a plus, but then again DARPA is known for funding really ridiculous things sometimes, which was good for innovation. I'm not sure which company would be a better company in that regard.

I'm just hoping really that I can get an Asimov style robot butler before I die of old age, and Boston Dynamics seemed like it was one of the best companies in that regard. Robots were beginning to look much more realistic than flying cars and jetpacks.

Map looks pretty good, wpoly count of 4-5k is a bit high for TS + Multiplayer.
The Map Layout is okay but since the map is mirrored mostly its a bit boring add in some eyecatchers/effects/broken walls ?

personally I enjoy windows 8. I haven't used the app store once in the year and a bit I've had this computer. it also took me just under a year to figure out that you could turn off the computer by putting your cursor in the corner, rather than having to sign out of your account, and shutting the computer down from the lock screen.

8's pretty fast and seems to boot up ridiculously quickly, doesn't bring up many errors and therefore a pretty good OS imo
