Ive only got a 560ti, but now sitting on a 525m. Nvidia has really stepped up their reference design to a point where you really want to think about if you need a custom cooler.

Not sure of the full details since I just followed the advise I found online, but it basically came down to removing the line LanmanWorkstation and adding LanmanServer. It's way beyond my understanding but it worked so I'm happy.
The reason I got irritated is because this issue seems to date back to much older versions of Windows and it's still causing problems. MS need to sort their shit.

Because of a very simple thing, i didn't need such system stability/functionality and am unemployed with out any form of income Plus with so many ways to get a copy for "dz" (free) investing money into it isn't the best solution.
120$ is still an insane price for an game even if i had income.

Urby, it was part of the price of yhe rig. You still bought it. Technically I didn't since I won my rig, but I would have otherwise. Windows 8.1 is cheaper than BF4 with Premium and it is responsible for everything you run. How can you possibly argue they charge too much?

@ Scotch
Windows 8.1 is generally more responsive and "faster" than windows 7. Mine Windows 8.1 boots from 7 to 10 seconds on an regular hard drive. It has an customizable metro start menu that is pretty neat when you arrange it the way you like. It has crappy apps that you can add onto metro as well, like weather and notes and crap like that.
It supports DX11.1, the core system is better, applications respond faster to calls and anything i have tried works in it (except 16bit applications). Even some apps i tried from windows 95 work as well. Plus it has some compatibility analyzer thing you can use before you start the application.
Metro also heavily reduces number of program icons on taskbar/desktop. Access to some various things like network, control panel and computer info has been moved, but its by my opinion better that way. The system works very well with older hardware, all my external floppies work, and they work even better than on windows 7.
tl;dr
Boots much much faster Is ready to use instantly as it boots Better core system, DX 11.1 Better UI, simpler usage
@ Archie Don't be a sucker and harm your self because some silly law says so.
And pengy is right about Dream Spark, that's how i got mine W8.1 pro. Any one on an technical faculty/college should have it.

My employer pays for my MSDN subscription so I don't have to pay for Windows (or any other MS product for that matter) but I still have multiple licenses that I can use
If you're a STEM student you probably have access to a program that Microsoft offers that gives you a free license to many of their products, including Windows. Ask your university if they subscribe to the DreamSpark program. The license can still be used after you graduate.

I'm a firm believer in shunning Windows 8. But is 8.1 better - because I honestly Love windows 7. Can you do a system restore? If that doesn't work, you might have to do a re-format. It sucks, but It could be a great excuse to throw a SSD in your computer so it can fly.

Something fucked it up. Either a virus or something you installed messed with system files. A lot of things can damage an operating system. You're lucky its not the boot sector thats affected so you can easily fix it.
And who in their RIGHT mind pays for an operating system? Why?
@ Stu Windows 8.1 is the best windows operating system. Its much better than 7 and any other that they have made (For todays computing).

They're for actbusy schedules and making NPCs crouch behind shit - such as couches and chest-high-walls and the like. The floaty white ones are "World:Visually Interesting" and act to draw attention to the windows even if nobody is standing behind them.
Its so the combine are ready to fire at that location as soon as a citizen pops his head into a window.
There are also hint nodes on the floor near the windows for the citizens to know that there's a window there.
They don't crouch behind windows but they know to at least duck out of the way to reload.

@Strojke, Thanks! Glad you found it. Yea I didn't get to finish my secret as I ran out of time.
@Dimbark, Thanks a lot! What you can see is the secret area, I ran out of time so couldn't hide the area.
@Rimrook, Thanks i'm glad you liked it! I'm glad someone commented on the leaves and butterflies. I got the leaf idea from the fishing pond in Zelda Twilight princess. Great ideas on fixing the height, maybe someday i'll change it to where you can access the higher areas. I tried making the waterfalls come to a point but it looked odd but maybe if I did extend them further it'd look nice.

@StojkeK I never said I paid for it. I just think it's ridiculous that they charge so much. My copy of Win7 Pro came pre-installed on my gaming rig.
Anywho, fixed it. The LanmanServer service wasn't starting properly and was holding all the other services up behind it. RedEdited that mother fucker.

Me. It's at a fair price point, will last for half a decade if not longer and is a legal requirement of its use.
