Yeah, sounds fishy. I'm really thinking they are actually trying to do a sort of Big Brother type reality show. It's only the novelty value of it being in Mars that would draw an even larger audience.

I don't like the way it seems to be based on votes, rather than physical and psychological vetting. If I want to go to space, I'll go the harder but more rewarding route. I'm doing aerospace engineering and I'm interested in perhaps trying to work at NASA or ESA when I graduate (after experience of course), perhaps in 15 years with luck I might actually end up in a rocket as a flight engineer?

The map is pretty OK. I like the scenery, i always loved quiet themed snow maps. Plus there are some interesting effects like slightly opened windows.
What I absolutely hated are the lamps. Not only did i get stuck in one, but they are very ugly to use in this theme. An lantern would be much more suitable.
The map has some nice details, and its pretty good looking.

I watched that. Are you sure you want to forever leave the Earth on a forsaken planet? You need to be highly courageous. This is almost like a supreme sacrifice. I don't think it's really possible if you have a family.
Just not yet... men and women who go on this trip will be brave pioneers. They state explicitly that there's no turning back, it's all a chance of future technology.

His last bit about the heart wrenching artsy film that features a fight between two brothers and a nude, erect one armed juggler was certainly mad. And I think by this point I've seen most of my favourite QI regulars, but there are still a few more for the future.

I suppose that you have a point with the whole 'closure' thing. I didn't really see closure in that though, personally. ...Perhaps I'm one of the ones who got attached to her. Would have liked to see a way for peaceful co-habitation, though.

Haven't had a chance to flip through the manga. The Anime'll probably seem less well-executed once I do. There were a few plotholes/unanswered questions still, I expect since they only got a single season to do the series. (though I may have had a peek at the wiki afterwards)

SPOILER "Keep in mind you never actually see the outcome of that fight, though." We actually get to see a silhouette of Lucy Kouta's front door after the end credits, so we know she lives. I didn't agree with that last scene because Lucy's death was supposed to provide closure; that closure is moot because she didn't actually die. It seems more like they just didn't want to upset viewers who'd grown attached to Lucy. SPOILER
I've since read the manga. I think the anime wasn't so well executed because the producers really didn't compensate for the plot points that had to be cut or altered(as is often the case with film adaptations). Also, Elfen Lied wasn't actually finished when they adapted it into an anime. The manga goes in a completely different direction.
Edit: All 13 episodes in one sitting? You must have been really engaged :3

It's not for everyone, true. But if the plot is interesting enough from the beginning to someone to put up with the gore, nudity, squickyness, (Is that a word? Whatever. Is now.) they'll find a worthwhile show. It all depends on your tastes in story and how much/what you're willing to put up with.
