CGTextures only allows 15mb a day. Image after allows 300mb and has free signup. The number only goes down when you use their batch downloader. (which is handy) and also doesn't go down when you preview the texture at high res.
Its a pretty new site. buzzing around the forums has its benefits too.
Also, CGTextures are mostly shopped already. thats why they are all perfect.

The first two, I could leave easily. Communcation technology is a wonderful thing. I couldn't leave my studies because they pretty much determine what I will be doing for the rest of my life. Finish the studies, then leave.

[EDIT 2012] I am here to report that the computer doesn't work anymore. Perhaps the BIOS battery is dead, anyway it's a 13 year old computer. RIP Pentium 2.

a stock photo is important because they are not shopped, doing it yourself allows you to adjust the details you put in and take out, or if its not a perfect texture, you can use it for something creative. Texturing is more than surfaces like grass, dirt, crete, crete2, crete3, crete4, and brick.
You can always try CGTextures.com It was referenced from imageafter, its made for texturing but may still require some photoshooping. At least the Photographers know what their doing when shooting the stuff. :/

I use the same technique for cliffs. It is very good if you are trying to make something very complex. I find it much more convenient to use tetrahedrons than simple triangles. Mostly because it's much easier to make valid shapes out of them.
Anyways good tutorial.
P.S I agree with Captain Terror, you could have added a sexy-compiled-terrain-image.

As for screenies - I really don't have anything I can show off. Example maps show the effect right, though aren't that sexy.
Anyways good tutorial.

Some of these I could maybe understand, perhaps for a 'post ur rig' kind of thread. But the out of focus image of a file being copied? Hmmmmm...
Damn Skals, for such a short time here =0.
