They were introduced in the Orange Box, Captain Terror. They're rather awesome, and fun to work with too when they don't crash your game.
I've dabbled with the particle engine myself, and it really opens up a whole new world. It's a lot more fun imagining what kind of things you can create in Source, now. If only I could finish one. >_>

It's a puzzle game, man. Of course it requires brains. If you think it's boring and slow than perhaps you really haven't the brains to figure out what to do?

Well you're starting off your PS3 game collection strongly. Uncharted is great and Resident Evil 5 looks to be the same. I started off good with MGS4, but a series of bad buys (Assassin's Creed, Fallout 3, Prince of Persia) left a sour taste in my mouth. >:(
Uncharted made it all worthwhile again though, it's an adventure classic. I look forward to Tiny-Huge Island LittleBigPlanet and Resident Evil 5 greatly, too.

It's not so much that they impact me (though they do get a bit disgusting), they just seem so incredibly lame. Snyder just seems like a 12 year old playing with buckets of fake blood because he still thinks gore is cool. I just can't take these movies seriously.

The thing about Watchmen is I think I could have really liked it if it weren't for the director's really immature (though I hate using that word) approach to the violent things that happen. It was basically the same deal with 300.
"Oh look, wow! This guy's head gets chopped off in slow-motion, HOW AWESOME."

Hahaha, they're rather hilarious when you see them. A lot of detail has been put into them and their... physics. I'm ashamed to say I noticed this. >_>

"How would you rate it out of 10?"
5/10
There are the makings of a really interesting and unique story behind it all which can be appreciated. It's just really hard for me to look beyond the directors immature take on all the violence, it's pretty sadistic.

Amen, Urby.
They Hunger and Afraid of Monsters were a load of bollocks in my opinion, nothing but all the generic horror ideas slapped into Half-Life with a couple of model replacements.
I want a REAL horror mod, one that plays with your emotions. One that uses some intelligent and subtle mindfucks to put you on edge. One that doesn't stick you in another haunted mansion or hospital from hell. One that... OH CRAP, now I want to make one.

TJB: There should be plenty of opportunity for that. The level has some pretty varied heights, and you can always depend on people double-jumping and explosive jumping around.
Captain Terror: I already use it, lawd.
Everyone else: :>
I should have some new screens up tonight, if all goes well. I did a surprising amount of work on this yesterday, considering my usual effort.

I'm afraid I'm going to leave it with the darker one, Daubster. I feel like it suits the deep lighting a lot more. When you see the whole outside area, you'll notice there's a lot of industrial light sources around with give the area just enough light, but where they don't provide light it gets pretty dark. Plus the blue just contrasts the hot red interior so much more, gives it a nice cool feeling.

Sandman looks pretty fun. I hope whatever they replace his scattergun with isn't basically the same thing with a new shell and slightly different stats. I hate that gun. >:(

It's funny though, I'm on the other side of Aus, normally very hot here and there's been a ridiculous amount of downpours the last couple of days. It's 10 at night right now and I can't see a single star because of the storm clouds.

Err, Rimrook... The majority of the comments where on engine trouble, and there is hardly a bad comment among them. If people couldn't get it to even work to begin with, why did you even expect these comments? Sounds a little bit too much like a plea for attention to me. :/
It is a very nice looking map, but literally coming out and asking for "HOLYSHITFUCK" comments is just.. ugh.
It's still slow and clunky and TWHL is staying broken. Enjoy the rest of your day.
Why?

In other news, Resident Evil 5 rocks so far.
I can fix that. >_>

Not really.
Vin Diesel sucks.

Unlikely. Owned by Rare who is owned by Microsoft.
Hunter: I still doubt we'll ever see it in TF2 'officially'.

Madcow: Thanks. About that sky though, there is more to that sky than you can see in the image, and I really do think it is much more suitable.
Clicky
There's a shot from a higher perspective, should give you an idea how the sky looks. Should also show you just how much it needs a skybox.
Fun times.
