What a mess. What a waste of time is Source. It's no better than GoldSrc, except raised limits. One should move from GoldSrc to new engine only when you'll be able to create stuff like this by digging a hole, putting some rocks around it and just pouring a load of water particles in it.

I liked how alive it was. It was so imperfect, complex, messy, colorful and full of bugs, it had no style and that's exactly what made it so alive. It had everything - action, thinking, horror, humor, you name it. I loved how immersive it was, thanks to no cutscenes and Gordon being totally frozen without your command. The game design was great. All the sounds, especially music, were incredibly atmospheric (thanks to Kelly Bailey, which sadly left Valve). Lots of things. And the mix of these was what made it. Thanks to great people at VALVe!
P.S. For your interest, every single pixel and sound wave you experienced in HL1 were made by people who left Valve by now.

Hello, very nice work. I haven't seen a map being such complex and almost completely errorless. The texturing is great. The ambience and the atmosphere are great too. The lighting is very good, however the light sources are a bit strange. But the lighting itself is extremely well done and very atmospheric. Great work!
EDIT: By the way, it reminds me a bit of Lineage 2's catacombs.
EDIT2: I suspect you have used vluzacn's tools, isn't it?

Maybe because the photo for the texture was taken before they were built. Or maybe because the texture is used multiple times so they didn't wanted for two very distinctive objects to repeat.
As far as I know there isn't such a command. Where you seen it? If it does exist then it's pretty much useless because you really don't need this effect for the entire map and even if you do, the engine simply wouldn't be able to handle it. But my technique can be applied only where it's needed.

I can easily tell that those environments are fake. They look just too artistic - too perfectly dirty.
