Ok... I wanna code... And I come to the VERC Collective and clicked in the Half-Life SDK on the menu...
A screen with a Login 'n Password form ask me my login... I type my VERC Login and the page tell me that it's wrong...

"Dev Dev Revoluion" is the name of the page... And there has no link to a "Create an account" or something... :nervous:

I need the HL SDK, but, exist another place that I can download it???
(I tried google, but I don't trust in the results)...

But you can forge a decal... It works good in a specific situation or place... :quizzical:

Ahnn...

1st - Decals just work like decals inside the decals.wad
2nd - If you mess with your decals.wad you can't run the map in other PC
OR - You can mess up your decals.wad and make a RES file that will mess up the decals.wad of the other people that will be very mad with you...

All tex in the HL engine needs to be multiple of 16... and the max size is 256x256 (except the 512x512)... what means that one of your custom tex can have wrong size like 97x43 or something...

To avoid problems, keep the size of your textures in a square pattern... like:
16x16, 32x32, 64x64, 128x128, 256x256 and 512x512...

To do retangular tex, try to avoid the random multiples like 208... The engine of the HL wasn't created for this type of use, but, for small textures that can be repeated...

It's not a law or rule that needs to be followed, but it makes your work more easy... :glad:

[edit] And tell us, what is the exact error mensage???

If you are thinking about using the Nem's TerraGen, keep in mind that you go to need to make some changes (VM) to prevent unnecessary poly... :quizzical:

Of course that you can leave it, but you'll have a high r_speeds...

And after, if you want a lot of details, put some CLIP brush, to avoid the player get in stuck... :lol:

Sorry...

Ok... I had this problem many times... The fun_water needs be only one brush... If you hollow the brush, you will (probably) have (many) problems...

To fix it (it's not a real fix) you can forge water...
Make a func_wall, apply a water tex on it, change the render mode to "texture" or something and it will be ok... As I said before, it's not a fix at all, you can't swim in a func_wall, but, if you don't need swim, it should work right...

Ahn.... Another note... the texture won't "move", "dance" or "twist"... But, who cares??? :glad:

Do you remember, in the intro of Half-Life, when the train stops in the plat, the door of the train moves a little towards the plat, after, it slides to the right side...

How they made it??? :

I thought in a couple of doors that appear and disappear (env_render) in the right time... But, it's correct???

Ok.... I always make a "Big Huge" map... And by experience, NEVER make a map like that... :zonked:

It's easy to control a map with little rooms, but outdoors areas is more complicated...
HINT Brushes don't work so good in open space...
HINTs need corners to use as reference and VIS Blocks...
If you HINT a outdoor area, you'll need to rise your HINT Brush up to the sky, but, making this, the HINT loose the walls... :nervous:

It keeps OK...

The monster see me, turn to face me, and stay on the same location...
Don't run or move in my direction or any other direction...
Just keep stopped...

Why the monster_generic houndeye works and my monster_generic model don't???
