In the Source engine we use prop_ entities as opposed to the prefabs, now - The HL1 prefabs are old and blocky and look quite ugly compared to the new things Props offer.

It's missing because you probably haven't run the game - The SDK documentation tells you that you need to run the game before trying to edit with that configuration or else it will not have the gameinfo in place.

You need to extract the entire /materials directory from the Counter-Strike Source Shared GCF file with GCFScape, then drop in hl2/materials. You can do the same for models too.

What is your driver version then? (There's been some real problems with some NV drivers lately.)

Try using a light_environment with a higher ambient value?

Decompile the model with CannonFodder's Model Decompiler, rename the animations in teh QC file to corespond with the HL2 animations, and recompile with STUDIOMDL.

Using triggers and filters (http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Filter_Applications) you can time it so when the plane hits, env_explosions, env_shooters, env_steams and other various FX entities play. Then you can kill the plane once it hits the building and have the env_shooters take care of gibs. (Likewise, you could have the plane made up of multiple func_physboxes which start motion disabled, then once it passes the trigger you can EnableMotion output and then have it break into bits. That would be cool. Might do an example on it.

Quite a bit actually =]

Prefabs can be entire map sections, areas that you utilize multiple times - Easier to make it once than reinvent the wheel.

Props are higher-detail than most brush-based things you can make, and can subsequently be included in prefabs.

Prefabs are obsolete. You can make your own, but teh useable objects, etc, are gone. Props, as blackravent said, are the replacement.

You can extract the /nature directrory from CS:S shared GCF in the materials folder - It would be in there. Or the de_chateau folder.

HL2 Hammer uses an advanced variant of the path tool in which it automatically sets up the next pathname for you.

The implementation in any version below 4 is useless, as 38_98 said. It's easier to do it by hand.

VALVe has released some CS:S fixes to disallow knife/awp/deagle/etc maps, methinks. There's a way to get around it, somehow, but I don't know anything about that. Google.
