I would use the lgtning.spr sprite for those beams, since its electricity. The laserbeam.spr is usually used for, guess what, laser beams, and many other beam styles, but lgtning.spr is best used for electricity beams.

But thats just a personal taste. :)

Perhaps an env_render might be usefull for you.
It allows you to render objects invisible, and with the use of some more entities, giving the effect that the door is destroyed. Doesn't sound easy to me...

The_Hunter: Inspiring me to create detailed maps is MuzzleFlash.. He has an insanely critical eye which demands perfection... Or even if it's not him saying, so much as me seeing what he is able to do. I am continually amazed to see what he manages to create, and yet very little of it is actually released - so perhaps there's even a bit of competiveness there..

Guess what. The brush has already been created. What you're seeing in that screenshot is simply the brush in wireframe mode. To switch to 3D Textured mode, click on the word camera (at the top left corner of the camera window), and choose 3D Textured.

Correct, the prisoner flag completely disables the monster's AI and therefor won't attack any other npc's.

The only way to have monsters attack other monsters but not the player is to switch to Spirit of Half-Life.

Btw, there's this coding tutorial on VERC that tells you how to code Fatboy mode. Basically it allows you to make fat/thin monsters. It doesn't look very pretty, but it is funny.

Actualy, the first thing you must figure out is where the shotgun fire sound is located in the GCF. So use GCF Scape to do so. Obviously, sounds are located in the file source sounds.gcf, so open that. Then, find the weapons folder. Its located in /root/hl2/sound/weapons/shotgun. There are 2 fire sounds in there: shotgun_fire6.wav and shotgun_fire7.wav.

Now that you where the fire sounds are located, goto your mod dir and create the exact same folders as in the GCF, like this:

half-life 2/hl2/sounds/weapons/shotgun.
Put your custom fire sounds in the shotgun folder and you're done.

That'll work fine, as long as you don't change the size of the textures, you will have to re-allign them in your map, which is an horrible and time consuming job as well.

I've made a door and when you keep walking up to it, you hear a VOX saying "access denied" and more stuff like that, but if you keep trying, you'll eventually piss off the VOX. xD.
