A map I started yesterday. It's a weird de_map for CS. Well... it's not weird, but you don't use to see that kind of maps. Map takes place on futuristic far west, CTs are carrying a nuke on a giant conveyor with some other escort vehicles. Suddenly Ts appears and attack CTs with assault vehicles.

It's a re-make of an Unreal 2004 map, not exactly a remake but it's the same idea. You can see it too on Trigun anime

What's rare on this map is that you play while beeing on movement, ground is a func_conveyor and it have some other things to create movement effect like dust sprites on the wheels, etc

You can't start a MOD without knowing anything about mapping, codding and all the stuff. So first lear mapping , show your projects and if you are good some people will join your MOD.

I used to play a game called Lineage 2, it's like WOW but so much better. I played on a pirate server made by a friend, it's very famouse. Well, what I want to say is don't play MMPORGs, I've been like 8 months playing it and is worse than heroin. Don't do it.

Well I invented the "engine view" sentence. There's a program called Crafty where you can see lots of HL things like models, textures, and maps. When looking maps you can choose some views, there's one called "SOLID" that allow you to see all faces generated by the engine.

Ok, I have deleted the left cliff, and still having all this squares on the floor. I can't understand why, and all have the same size. I just don't understand why. Texture scale is 1

I know optimizing. I've done some map attemps after doing this one and I know It has to be optimized. I leave 1 unit between complex brushes, I create func_walls too to optimize the map, I was sure it was optimized.

yEAH thnx now it works. But OMG... BSP takes 3.20 seconds but the VIS 1 hour... and is a little part of the map. It's a large beach with some cliffs and stuff, but 1 hour VIS???

What exactly do this texture? It makes faces transparent? Do it reduce my compiling time? Do it increase my r_speeds? Can I apply it on outside map faces?

Is it useful applying it on faces in contact but non visible for the player?

Probably u turned the blue brush into func_wall, so it has faces out of the map, To fix it just turn the func_wall to world or cover the func_wall outter faces with solids.

Pure Red/Green/Blue are showed as black ingame, if you want them to be transparent just follow a { transparent texture tutorial, if you want them to be seen ingame make non pure colors qhen doing the texture. Example: 0 0 254 or 254 0 0

I have learned a lot playing CS maps. There are great ones with great architecture, and if you want to learn entities options then Nipper maps are so useful.

Don't discourage, firsts maps are always shit. I've only compiled 1 map and it was a shitty aim_, then I've done some other map attempts and I've learned a lot doing them (but shitty ones), so I didn't compile them. I've done a great de_ map too, and I'm so satisfyed, but it was completelly unoptimized, so the compile takes hours and hours. I leave this map and now I'm doing a project/new style map for CS, full optimized and using complex entities events.

So don't discourage with it, it will probably take about 2 months to learn how hammer works. I recommend you not to start making a MOD first. Make some CS, DOD or other HLMODS maps, and then, when u think u are prepared, do it.

Create a block with aaatrigger texture. If the block is an entity the texture will be automaticaly invisible.

Then turn the block to entity, select the trigger_gravity and go to Gravity option. Then here you can choose the gravity ammount. The number you will write will multiply the gravity ammount of the server (sv_gravity, default is 800). So if you want the zone to be half of the normal gravity write 0.5, 0.5 x 800 = 400, you will have 400 gravity into this cube.
