most of you seem to be judging halo and halo 2 based on half life 2. alot of those reasons PaLO gave were really complete bollocks. for starters, the weapons were pretty well balanced, and some were quite unique (like the needler). the multiplayer was bloody amazing, as i would know after sitting down almost every friday night for a 16 player redvblue team CTF. and i dont see how they stole the name from half life. maybe the name "halo" has something to do with the halo-like object that has oh-so much to do with the storyline? and please, dont start on the story. ive already heard arguments against the story from people who havent played it. most of the time they go on about robots fighting aliens for a hoop-shaped space station.
the vehicles were alot like the weapons, i.e unique and balanced. there, that covers everything.

just one more thing. halo was ported to the PC, but unfortunately gearbox forgot something about console-PC ports. you should try making the graphics better . or at least as good as the console graphics.

the rules he posted came from the CAD forums. thats why it talks about webcomics.

the old twhl was really something. i mean not only did atom periodically log in, he even went on irc! ah, back then IRC was a tool used by all who grace twhl with their presence, and back then there were no members who didnt grace twhl with their presence. nobody went into the forrums screaming about broken boxes and counter strike and whatnot. of course then there was a huge rush of members joining. everyday there would be so many more. no less than 5 joined a day. fter that things started to go downhill. there was probably some other site involved which advertised TWHL for mapping. or maybe it was something to do with the VERC's map exchange going to buggery, even though that wouldnt have caused a rush of noob mappers. well, im just an old-timer rambling about my day...

haha, my plan for halloween is all set out. two of my friends dress up and walk about the streets. when they walk past some kids another one of my friends will jump out with a ball bearing gun, and i'll jump out with a baseball bat. we heartily maul our friends in front of the kids. ho ho ho!

Passing on knowledge is one thing, but what about the person your passing it to actually understanding it? i could easily tell a random person "setting a func_wall's rendermode to "solid" and renderamount to "255" the engine would render it as invisible", but a certian amount of knowledge is required to even begin to understand what any of it means. if we were to start recording everything we have learned from the very beginning of our lives, by the time we die we still wouldnt have a record of absolutely everything, because these things in our lives are happening so fast it would be impossible to notice them happening and have our brains process the information it gives us. as i'm typing this, im not noting the exact movements made by my fingers, or how far down the keys on the keyboard actually go down when i press them. this just shows that learning is really about finding out the critical information and putting it aside from the pointless trivia that covers it.

this is probably complete bullshit induced by all the chocolate cookies ive been eating, but i took a long time to write it, and you should be reading it!

your RMF (rich map file) is in wherever you set it to be in the options menu. alternatively, you could look at the box that appears showing the compile process in hammer when you are compiling. it should tell you if there were any problems.

btw, dont worry about the language problems, we've seen worse (from people whom english is their first language).

good things? for me its more how i solve the bad things. example:

i had been doing homework the night before, and the next day discovered i had left my pencil on my desk. not a problem. i just sat down where people had piled their blazers (our school has a uniform) and slipped my hand into a random blazer pocket. lo and behold! could it be!? why yes it is! a shiny, brand new marks and spencer pencil! and just because i'm me, i left a little note in their pocket that simply read "Owned".

and for another answer to this question; your BSP tools will take the information from the CSG and make it into a .bsp file (the file half life uses for its levels). CSG and BSP are the minimal requirments for a map to be playable, but they wont include lighting, and unesaccery faces will still be rendered.

you could have the breakable target it. make it something like an env_explosion. for a breakable,just put the explode magnitude up. in the properties you should see the "explode magnitude" field, the number you enter should be how many units the explosion takes up.
