Let's respond to everyone's questions.
Your cousin, because of his Mewtwo Lv 93.
Remember, levels aren't everything... ha ha ha.
I did have a stack of cards tho. It was fun
I had a large deck too. Wonder when I can pawn them off too
Those birds all suck, they are unraised.
He used TM's on some of the birds. Not too sure on details.
However, if it is raised by a rare candy hack and your pokemon are all legit raised, then you are going to win.
He has yellow, I don't think he can do that
Although if your team is rare candied too, then he will win with that Mewtwo.
I didn't do that because I am a legitimate videogame player. I did not use a gameshark or whatever crap is called.

Cousin is 11 yrs old by the way.
Alright every one. We all know that he is going to win. But how about this: He got cocky and told me to bring any 6-membered team and just go against his two mewtwos. Who will win nao?

EDIT: isn't ketchum hall in one of the other threads?

Video games are improving and advancing the way Americans are living, working and playing
I disagree vehemently. My cousin who is the brother of the cousin in the pokemon thread played dota his entire high school career and went to a crappy college, and now he has a crappy job that he regrets for the rest of his life. Videogames I think, are not advancing the living standard for people, I don't believe it.

It just so happens that both my cousin and I have a gameboy. He has an advance and I bought a crappy gameboy colour off amazon. It kinda strains the eyeballs because there's no lighting on the gameboy colour (outdated technology fails)

Ok, everyone. I just want to play a little game. It all started when said cousin asked me how to get mewtwo on his gameboy yellow. So I showed him the way to cerulean cave, the place with the badass music and nonsensical pokemon residents. (e.g. wigglytuff and dodrio live in this cave). Meanwhile I'm just here chilling with my pokemon in pokemon blue. I hacked a mew into my game along with a dewgong that I got from trading with NPC's. (It levels up faster that way) And then one day I found this blue link cable in one of my drawers. ITS TIME TO DDDDDDDUEL.

My poke: Mew L60, Dewgong L62, Blastoise L53, other crap
Cousin's poke: Mewtwo L93, Mewtwo L71, Moltres L50, Articuno L50, Zapdos L50

Make your bets nao.

This thread is an assay on the ability of internet users to maintain a steady, logical stream of conversation. It has been shown that typical internet users are unable to maintain a consistent conversation on a single topic (for example, a thread made by a new member to introduce himself somehow turned into a discussion on English grammar and top hats.)

The first person to post can start up a single topic, or discuss this experiment. Let's see how long the consistency of the conversation lasts. I'd say...less than ten (10) posts.

yeah, I used the normal source code, not spirit. I have spirit code but like Jeffmod says, the cleansuit does not mean to heal the player. But still does anyone know why I can't make derived classes..?

ninja defuse, do you know what is the "mainstream" method of compiling the sdk? because with the 2008 express I have to modify like, 100 things in the code to make it work up to now. You can tell it was no easy trip down yellow brick road doing this if you saw all my previous forum topics.

in derived monster classes Post #281175
http://www.twhl.co.za/articulator.php?art=54

above is a tutorial on how to code derived monster classes.

Yeah I followed the code and tried to make a clean suit scientist in the vse 2008, but apparently it doesn't compile saying "base class undefined" even with full build. So, I made a full copy of scinetist code and put it in a new file. That works. But I have seen that derived monster classes code work on you guys's projects. What went wrong? And no, I am not planning to pay real money for a real IDE.

in anime recommendation Post #281105
just thot I'd give a heads up: I've only seen few anime series, because, if you haven't figured out from post 1, I am very selective about this stuff. But let me tell you about the one's you guys rec'd that I already watched.

Bleach: I think bleach is pretty intense. It suffers however, from too many filler. You can see this in action when, just before a grand battle, they diverge from this to a completely unrelated alternative storyline FOR TWO DAM SEASONS

Elfen lied: Oh boy. This one. Yes, the first scene. Everyone knows that one. However the beginning eps suffer from gratuitous fanservice. Sad face. Also, the flashback sequence was used, like 3-4 times. That's stretching it, isn't it? Of course when I first watched it it seemed really good. But since then I have seen better, more profound ones with no fanservice.

5 centimeters: this is a movie, it's really nice, you should watch it. It's about two teens romance being tragically forced apart by distance. Very touching. Unfortunately the director apparently only produces movies revolving around this single theme.

I've seen ghost in the shell: intense, counter-terrorist cyber warfare. Every one of those words should make you want to watch this.

Cowboy bebop is good. However I can't say intense as I haven't seen all of it.

spirited away: I didn't watch all of this movie which I guess makes the effect that much less effective for me. same occurrence with howl's castle.
so let's see, you want
  • serious storyline
  • good chars
  • fantasy world
  • swords
Well, I know 3 along those lines.
Tsubasa chronicle: You prolly don't want this one, it's targeted younger children. Uses filler. Not alot of action, but sometimes plot is good and unpredictable. The premise is these guys and a princess going around many different fantasy worlds looking for her memories. The characters are distinctive. But like I said, targets younger audiences, and not alot of action, and not too engaging. (52eps I think, I didn't finish but I think there isn't a conclusion yet.)

murder princess: It's six eps long only, so maybe you have time for it. Premise is a princess and a skilled bounty hunter switches bodies, just when the princess's castle was being stormed. The setting is magical, since there are both robots and a medieval layout. You'll find out how this happens. However the characters are kinda cliched, as is the plot.

Ga rei zero: Omg, everyone should watch this. This show will define for you the true meaning of friendship, I swear. The first episode, omg that is the best way to start a show, seriously. There are swords, very good characters, and the enemies are similar to those in bleach (dark shapes, but not wearing dumb masks) 12eps, and if you are looking for good one this is worth your time. Beware though there are some lesbian moments (but not integral to the series as a whole) and one more thing: IT HAS HEADCRABS

wow thx, this is alot of recs, I might take a while to check out the more obscure titles

I've seen that daioh one up to, like ep8 I think. It's catchy, but to be honest I am more interested in serious ones, because usually anime comedy doesn't really ring with this old gamer.

on a side note, I am not sure how anyone on the face of earth can possibly finish Naruto. we are talking about the hundreds of episodes. I rather not watch anything that I can't finish..

but, yeah like I said gonna take a long while to check all the titles.

Yes, this is an off center topic.

Can anyone recommend some good anime? By good I mean really good. And of course, I can certainly define what "good" means.
  • no excessive fanservice. In fact it's best that there be next to none of this.
  • no giant battle mechs. You know I am not into that kind of stuff.
  • no harems. Clannad is great, but most are not.
  • please, not anything before 1990. I'm sorry the art is just too old. DBZ is good example.
  • I know about that one called charcoal feather federation, or something. I know many, many people say it's good, but I am not to watch that because I am a jerk and spoiled the plot to myself by surfing wikipedia. Sorry.
Feel free to discuss about any anime you would like to talk about. This is a general thread isn't it.

I find that using my custom code that sometimes when monster entities do something (like, turning their head away from player, or trying to find a clear shot at the player, or others) that, for no clear reason, a spark would appear above their heads. I have no idea why this happens, I find this does not happen in normal HL, or any other game I believe. Since it happens on alien grunts, barneys, human grunts, scientist, so far, I believe it's some sort of bug caused by a base class. Do you all have an idea what is up?

Yeah, I think you put a box of trigger_transition around the area in which you want things to carry over to another map. Changelevels are really annoying sometimes, and I haven't done too much with those.

Based on that and the movie theatre map you have, your mod is going to be impressive, I think.

in Ahaha, code compile problems Post #280830
I decided to compile the hl one sdk using GCC, which is as good as free gets.

But don't worry, I have already "fix" some of the problems myself, using a lack of coding knowledge. However that can only get me so far. So now I need your compassionate hands.

You all know how there are setThink and setTouch and their derivative (not pun) functions in almost every individual file, right? Yeah, well these functions, integral as they may be, are causing me the problems, I think. What happens is: in every file, these functions cause errors related to how it's invalid for these functions to static_cast from type A to type B.This occurs in every individual file, which leads me to think that this has to do with the setThink/Touch/Others functions themselves. Or this crappy compiler. I don't know. The source code admitted to using static_cast as a "sleazy" way to do their thing, so I suspect this problem is prolly not too uncommon. So, hopefully someone may have run into this problem and found the solutions.

I'm not known around here for writing lots of stuff. Honest.

Ahhh, I somehow became an ass I dunno how. I am really not trying to make you all feel bad, you know, because I'm the one in need of the assistance. You know. I have to say I am great full that ppl responded (unlike another coding question in this forum). However you all seem very discouraging attitude I see. Like how it's not something I can pick up and run with.

Ok, I know coding is not easy. But I said I wasn't going to do complicated stuff. I know for sure that you only need change one number to control the amount of grenades given by a weapon_handgrenade. I am to do that sort of thing. You know. And luckily for me I have had about a summer's worth of C++ coding experience. I learned how to do elementary dos crap all by my self! (I'm getting condescendingly sarcastic looks right about now)

I looked at code blocks; it looks like a watered down visual studio guessing by the pictures. It has a compiler I am guessing that can build .dll files, I dunno. After twenty years I'll download it and hopefully it will help. But I think having this answer is great, thanks!

Curious: How long does it take to compile a dll? Lot longer than a running vis for a map, I hope not.

in Before I can try coding, I need... Post #280803
Ahhhh, please don't discourage me like that. Like I said I'm not undergoing some complicated total conversion attempt or anything. And I hate saying this, but you didn't really answer the question...

Er, what is code blocks? And how exactly can I produce a .dll file? I am not doing anything worth that much effort. I've seen it on moddb and frankly I don't think it is all that complicated; I could get visual studio to do it, maybe, but I am just asking if I can make a .dll file without using Visual studio.

I think that I need what is called compiler/linker which can produce the .dll file. Perhaps this is the right direction; perhaps it's not. I hope ppl here can point me in the correct path.

Ok everyone, I know peeps here know how to code. I'm not asking how to code in new monsters or anything like that. I am just wondering what is the stuff I need to get in order to make a .dll file using the HL1 SDK that's compatible with half life 1 modding. Do I need nmake, or visual studio, or whatever. Preferably, I would like to make a .dll file without having to get visual studio, so if you know how to do that please tell us. I have the SDK for HL but I dunno how to create a .dll file out of it.
