Do you start a server or just type in map in the console? You won't get any guns from start if you're using the map command since the functions in CS which gives you guns from start won't be run.
I'm about to try the USS Darkstar anyday soon... Haven't tried any single-player mod before. Well, maybe opfor and Uplink but they come from valve and gearbox, which isn't the same thing as a mod from a private person.
I liked that fish gun or whatever it was that you fed with fruits. It could handle almost anything in one shot. But that was opfor. I think the discussion went a little of topic. Anyway... Back to the mods.
Simple question: What are your favorite mods and why do you like them. I like many multiplayer mods such as: Counter-strike, Natural selection, Vampire slayer, The Wastes and The Specialists. They're great because they're completely change HL into something more compelling. There lots of other reasons too...
For me it always starts with a little map. Just something to show my friends about some functions. Then it grows and grows, gets remade until it's HUGE!!! You should have seen my duke3d maps.
Good News!!! I just found a map where you start with only a desert eagle and a knife. All original weapons are removed from the start and you get those instead. So there's got to be some way to do it.
I tried in Opfor to go trough a wall and found the G-man standing in a corner out of sight. It's the part where the osprey leaves without you. I put 300 rounds of 5.56 in his head and they all bounced off. Why did they make him invurnable?
No such entities exist. At least not my CS. The solution for scout(for example) is to add an armoury entity containing the prefered weapon and use it together with info_map_parameters to disallow buying of guns. But the pistols can't be removed as far as I know. Try searching for some tutorials on the net. Maybe you find one.
Turning up Map lightning won't work. Since it's in the areas which doesn't have a direct path to sky where the problem lies. The outdoors of my map are fine. It would be easier if I could provide a picture.
As of texture lightning: I have tried but to no effect. The only lightsources which seems to work are entity-based.
But I haven't tried SlayerA's advice yet... Hopefully it will work.
I am building quite a large cs map at the moment. I'm currently trying to do something at the lightning. My is way to dark. You can't see one metre in front of you without using a flashlight. I'm using a light_environment for the sky and lots of light_spot to produce extra lightning effects. But I need the map far brighter. There's some areas where I can't really put light because that would spoil the scene. In map properties I have set Map brightness to as far as 9000 but yet no effect. I'm using zoner hl tools. What can I do to get every texture brighter.
Of course we will continue mapping for Hl. Since HL2 is going to insanely advanced in map design, most new to mapping will certainly choose to begin mapping in HL.
Is there a tutorial on how to make lever transitions? If not, that would make a fine addition to our tutorial section. Also because I need to know how to create it.
Make a mod about something you've liked. It's sp right? so there's no need to go over mp ideas. Have you seen some movie you think would fit or should you make a mod in style with HL uplink? I'm sure you will find a great idea for a mod.
Ok I'm a poor 56kb modem user and the tutorials currently forces me to make the tutorials available off-line or as plain text. This is painful in some cases where pictures help a lot. What if the tutorials could be downloaded in a html document, complete with pictures and all. And packed as a zip file, for file size. It would help me a lot since I can't be on the net everyday.
Get the edit post function too. I just wrote a post, submitted it and found out I had forgot something important. Had to make a new post because of that.
