Xlayer: I believe the first links were fine but after the site crashed some BM devs uploaded their own versions where they copied the files into a rar. One of those rar contained an empty Medal of Honour game folder heh so odds are you dll'd the same one I did which was missing the chapter titles.

Does anybody else have a problem where chapter titles don't display properly?
Yes, you downloaded an incomplete version. Can I assume you're also missing achievements?

Anyone notice they use reversed versions of songs you first hear when you revisit an area. For example when you first enter Blast Pit and you hear the music. Then you go down and turn on heat and oxygen and go back up and the same song plays only backwards.

It's a really nice idea.

I believe they're from L4D since Valve ported a lot of content over to CS:GO or maybe they built around it.

Well it fooled me. Can't even see the seam.

But really it's the part to the right in that screenshot that bugs me. I'm assuming the players can see out those windows on the left? If so then they'll see the hill on the right where it ends against the grey sky. You see what I'm getting at? Even if you put some tiny tiny buildings in the distance, at least then it'll break the boundary feeling.

Keep in mind I'm just basing my thoughts on your screens. I don't know what's walkable or what is really visible to the player.

I drew a picture to put the idea across better anyway. Take it however you feel. Just ideas really.

Anyway keep at it. You've shown what you can do to push it and already it looks tons better. You can do more!

Very nice Skals. That's more professional than your last set of pictures. my crits are to displace the paths so they are dipped downwards slightly giving it more of a 3D look than just painted on.

I would also maybe add more grass models scattered around the level. GO has some decent grass models, some for edges, others for just slapping in the middle.

Lastly it might be nice to have some vehicles or something to suggest how the teams got there in the first place. Oh yeah and I'm still thinking you should destroy those far away trees with something more detailed...but I think what's damaging it is also the distance. It's obvious where the map ends and you can easily make a 3D skybox to further extend the view and create the illusion of a bigger world.

edit, one last thing: In this pic: http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/7699/2012091100006.jpg

displace the grass so it's not flat where the buildings touch it. In other words just raise some of the displacements where the buildings meet it to just break up the flatness. It could also be the scale of the grass but it looks quite big, I dunno if scaling will fuck up your alpha painting but it might help just lowering it a litle more.

When the workshop comes out it probably wont matter. If it's anything like Portal 2 it'll install it all for you so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Regardless the people on steam forums said they use pakrat though I couldn't get it to work with the playtest BSP I sent you.

It's obviously some sort of door...like a tram door and you can see the blue line which is where the gap is. Anyway no idea why it'd do that but I'm pretty sure trains in HL2 are still kind of buggy. What about covering it up by adding an extruded bottom section so that it always covers it.

Someone on interlopers said their custom detail grass was lit black...maybe they don't work.

Regardless much better! And you can still push it, get a mud texture, edit VMT to say basetexture2 and paint some dirt paths. Maybe add some puddles, replace trees with better ones, GO has some great ones that cast shadows and everything.

This map has a good surrounding woodland, study it. http://gamebanana.com/csgo/maps/166494

Heh I take it you're asking because that one guy on FPSbanana said make it more detailed without an explanation? :D

The buildings actually seem fine to me. It's the terrain, lighting and skybox that bothers me. I'm sick of that grass texture so my first suggestion is grab a grass texture on cgtextures, make it tile and use that. Also maybe make it a blend texture so you can paint some dirt.

Honestly I think the major issue is that grass. It's too bright for the lighting and buildings and you could add a nice dirt road going into the entrance of the compound.

Maybe. All I know is shadows cast on everything so suddenly my map became sexy and then there's the giant models. In old Source they'd only use one light source so if half was in shadow and the other in sun it'd look odd and now in GO when I compile on full it blends it in with both shadow and sun.

And that makes me a happy bunny since I spent a year and a half making levels out of models ;P

Feels weird posting a WIP here. Pretty sure it's been a year or so since I did. Anyway this is a CSGO map I've been working on with a bloke and the area the pic shows is bomb b. Of course those who playtested the map should recognise it.

Lighting is placeholder and most of what you see is model based. They finally made models light the same as brushes.

in CS:S Player Following Things (Hammer cre Post #307652
Heh it's not following your crosshair. You've typed third person in CSS which wasn't coded for 3rd person so by default the UI remains the same. You've just moved the camera is all.

Unless it's AI I really doubt you can make something follow a player let alone multiple players. All you can do is either parent it to a player which won't do much. It'd be like that new unicorn balloon in TF2, it will just float in the same position and rotate the same as the player. All parenting does is stick an object with glue to another object and it follows the same forces.

I once tried to make a func_train chase a player but the game crashes because Source just wasn't coded to handle that.

Not bad so far. Last of Us and Watch Dogs really stood out to me as stunning games. Makes me sad I'm working with Source again XD

What I really want to see, the real winner, is a hint at the next consoles.

Oh and that Star Wars game...1313. It was running on some form of the new Unreal engine and I finally see the hype. I didn't think much of UE4 when they said particles would be increased and stuff like that but seeing it used in that gameplay vid blew my mind. Particles are brilliant.

I call "joke" to regain some interest in a game that people have long forgotten. Actually I don't think they'll be doing a new Half Life for a good while until technology improves and they can create the same upstandard that Source did when it first came out.

I'll always remember how HL2 and the Source engine opened my eyes. I can still recall an old friend of mine who phoned me up while I was playing it and asking me what I thought about it and how to get past that blue container airboat puzzle.

That's the only time I've been phoned up to discuss a game...granted we have online alternatives now but still, the impact of HL2 was grand and I expect HL3 to do the same.

Also I'm loving the hand made dungeons. Found another one with a necromancer who would kidnap women and turn them into his ghost slaves.

Oh yeah and I can't equip my legendary glass maces in the quick menu as the game seems to get confused whether they are the same or separate. If I equip to right it hides the other one so I have to manually equip it >_>

Hunter I keep telling you mah PC is freezing all the time. I need money for a new one.

Besides even if it wasn't I'd stick with the console version. I'm sorry but a 40 " TV, 5.1 surround sound (properly placed around the room unlike my PC speakers) and a comfy sofa is too strong a decision for me. Besides everyone is moaning about the interface but it's incredibly handy with a controller.

I never really used the mods anyway. The only Oblivion mod I used was the one that added exterior meshes to indoor sections and that was a "pain" to install. Using python scripts and plugins to even get it working...what a nightmare.

Yep the interface is great on consoles...which is what I'm playing it on.

Although the trade off is the PS3 version has a memory leak problem so long hours = crappy framerate.

Anyway I have a story.

I was doing one of the companion quests and had an NPC with me. As I approached the area I noticed a Dwemer structure in a mountain. I went inside and was greeted with a Khajiit skooma addict. As I went further and further in I discovered a huge hollowed out mountain with Dwemer structures winding down and down and down a spiral staircase.

I was intrigued because the journals mentioned treasure. I must have been in there for a good hour. By the end I had to fight two giant centurions and then there were two imperials who were fighting over the treasure.

Anyway to my surprise it was another one of those "You lack the item" altars so I'm going to get that item today and discover the treasure. Can't wait.

Like Satch said, could be memory or lack of it. I haven't modded HL engine in years but maybe the map is taking up a lot of memory due to some complex geometry, leaks etc
