If you want a well lighted map don't make flat lighting. Just place more light sources, even the brightest of areas isn't full bright/bland, there are always abit darker places. It wont really hurt, you'll see your enemies as good as ever.

Nope, cannot seem to picture Gordon driving a sports car for some reason. He seems more like the quiet type who keeps to himself so I doubt he would want to drive an attention-getting vehicle. Because of his anti-socialism, I see him driving your basic, everyday hatchback or sedan. The Viper looks real good tho.
Yeah, he truly looks like that. The weird thing is how within one moment he takes a gun and start killing everybody. :P

A hole in their story, but thats the whole idea! A geek with two guns.

Yes but having a plot in a game is always fun.

I don't think Hl2 would have been so much fun if you would just run around in arenas killing people endlessly without any goal.

Think of it even doom1 has a plot. Maybe it's not that important in there but it gives an end to the game, which is good.

If you wont have fights then it will be just a map for people to watch. It is not really fun to walk around and look at good architecture.

Oh shit I said man instead of men in my last post, whoops. :roll:

Is that the tample you mapped in hammer? If it is then how can you know if it will look good when you make the map. In hammer 4 it looks so horrible.

No I am just learning, thanks for helping me, I try to learn from my mistakes. Just don't over do it, it's just annoying when after every post somebody corrects you. I just wasn't sure how to write trouble. Funny I remembered that architecture didn't have the word arch in it... or maybe I got mixed up again. :zonked:

The first pic from Carceri looks great. Really nice artitecture. That place fits a huge monster! :badass:

If I were to create a game with that map I'd make you go into underground tunnels/catacombs and when you get out it's night and some ceremony is going on. (you hear chants, maybe you'll even see the place that ceremony takes place) A bright light comes from the midest of the man that participate in the ceremony, you hear screams, and hell breaks loose.

Sorry, I got a bit excited... this is the only idea I could think of and it really fits the tample you built, it fits doom3 better then Hl2 unless you are intending to make new monsters.

Apart from that you can make the same plot like you made in that small map you recently submitted: Combine finds this tample and something in it intrests them... hardly original. :

Nice. Good replacement for the brush car. Don't like the older skin though.

Yeah it wont really matter for you can't see/fall through the 1 unit gap. Another problem is that they will block light.

3. Make a brush covered with the null texture. It doesn't matter whether this brush is just a world brush, or a brush entity. It'll be automatically invisible ingame.
It matters if it's a world brush or entity. If it's a world brush then the part from another world brush's face will be discarded, just like with regular world brush. Only that the null brush is transperent so you'll see the void out side the levels, which is really bad.

It can't be the graphics card for it works in steam. I can tell you one thing, my graphics card is enough for running Hl1 and so is the proccesor, ram and all these stuff.

I seem to have problems with a much older game then Hl1. UFO Defences-Enemy unknown(1994) sometimes crashes and sometimes not starts at all. If It doesn't start then it shows a "patch timed out" error.

I figured that 128mb of ram isn't enough to run that game but enough to run Hl1 at a good efficency. :)

Don't do it. I tried it and I couldn't run Hl1.1.1.0. It said it couldn't read the sw.dll and hw.dll. I couldn't have done anything wrong for all I need to do is to replace the original ones with steam's ones.

All of Star trek's series suck. My brother saw it once and I saw it with him. It was mostly from the next generation serie. It was more like a drama movie with a few lazer shots in the middle.

Bahh... who am I to judge such movies. I don't like the whole kind of those since fiction movies. That includes star wars that I loath.

Post the whole compile log. :P The compile log is afterward saved in your RMF directory, named mapname.log.

You need to provide the full path to the wad file, like this:

-wadinclude C:SierraHalf-Lifevalveredniktex.wad

No you don't just: -wadinclude redniktex.wad
The compiler searches the wad in hammers wad list not in your whole computer. ;)

Type the name of the monster in the script that plays the death animation kill target value. When the script is over it will kill the tentacle.

I said in that thread srry linked you to it to use a func_wall_toggle. Remember that the tentacles were on a black brush that afterward disapeared and a tunnel showed up? The black block was a func_wall toggle that was targeted by the script.(target value(it targets it after the script is over just like the killtarget))

Medcow mentioned a Trigger_Hurt, that was to make the flames hurt you. Although I think it was only in that room. A Trigger_push pushes you to the wall so you couldn't move forword.

I advice you to get Leakmarker. The site isn't in english but the name of the file is written in english so it's possible to fine the file if you don't speak the site's languge. ;)

Leakmarker uses the .lin file to mark the leak with a block it generates in the .map file. (no long line that leads to the spot with the leak any more :D Just try to find that block(give it an unusall color)) There are instructions on how to use it in the zip. It wont take you long to understand it's quite easy to use.
The .lin and .map files are in your RMF directory. You can open map files trough hammer too.

That error happens in hammer. It only happens to me sometimes after I close it. The reason is- My screen can't support OpenGL.

I changed a Hl1 map into a spirit map and suddenly some of the scripted seaquances don't work. The scripts that don't work all start at the begining of the level. (activated by trigger_auto) An error shows up in game- Couldn't find sci1.(the name of a scientist) The name is spelled right and it worked before... what can be wrong? :nervous:

No it's not that hard to make it. Just make sure the no pitch flag is not ticked. It's really easy to make a single car roller coaster. Multiple cars is diffrent. I think you'll need to make all the cars diffrent trains and aglining them will be quite annoying.

Another problem is the track. How long and detailed are you going to make it? I advice you to use spirit for it has a nice feature of the 3D skybox, the only bad part about it that the sky wont emmit light in the level, only on the 3D skybox.

1. To many wads in use. The maximum is 8 wads. cached.wad and gfx.wad are useless. As for The spraypaint.wad, I never used it but I'm not sure it can be used. Remove all other wads that you don't use in the map. Plus you have a few wads from TFC. Remove them for not all people have TFC, or else you're going to have to include them in the map/zip file. This can be the cause for many problems including yours.

2. Never use capital letters in map names/entity names.

3. Do you place the RMFs(hammer's map files) in the counterstrike folder? Nothing wrong with that, I just want to know.

4. Change to ZHLT. :P (read my above post)

I can't see anything wrong exept that you are using Quake's tools. Get zoner half life compiling tools.(ZHLT) There is a link in the links page in this site.

Post the compiling log then. It's in the directory you have your rmf in(rmf directory) called <mapname>.log

Func_Tracktrain is orinaterd with it's track, use it instead of the func_train. As for the player falling off the coaster can't you make that a camera follows the train? I think it will solve the problem.

One word of warning- I think what you are doing is quite impossible in Hl1... maybe in source, only maybe... and probebly not a gaint one.
