After his peculiar web of friendships surfaced he was encouraged to step down, but he has never been subpoenaed or even questioned about it by the 9/11 Commission or journalists to this day. (All made from found scrap materials) We could even have an old car door as a shield - or perhaps a metal dustbin lid. Shields would be useful for blocking off hordes of zombies and enemy gunfire.
