You've gotta learn to disconnect "your country" (mostly your rulers) with "your people" (er, your people). That seems to be the most common reason for people getting crazy :D.

Let me tell you first-hand, that you're never going to convince any westerners of anything as long as you stick to your current method of pissing on, deriding, and otherwise pidgeonholing all americans into one lot.
Please don't interpret my comments as genuinely reflecting upon all Americans, as I've said. Less agressive and unpleasant American actions are, though, of course, more publicised (as they are for all countries). I'm well aware that the United States is an extremely diverse country, and would never try to group its entire population into one category.

I don't really care whether somebody is American or not. I dislike blind patriotism and reactionary attitudes regardless of nationality. It just so happens that the American's such attitudes are far more influential on the world than, say, the same attitudes in Eritrea or Belarus. Your country is going to be criticised more than most because it has a greater impact on the world.

Anyway, I carry no emotion from this thread to the outside site, if that satisfies you on the neutrality front :).

No the Leaders of the country do all that stuff you might think is mean, which is about less than 1% of the population.
Yeah, it's not as if they were duly elected by the populace, eh? It's a pretty critical point.
We're doing this to keep from having another 9/11.
Oh yeah! That's right, because Iraq, with its six .22 bullets and air balloon, was going to launch a massive terrorist attack on the U.S., as a state! Stop it. As a country, you murder eight times as many American civilians every year than the events of September the 11th. Maybe you're the terrorist state?
I take back everything I said before about the US besides it being a nice place to live. We suck.
That was a rather sudden change of an opinion? You're quite the environmentalist, then?
9/11 scares me, simply because all the conspiracy stories around it seem highly plausible. It all comes down to the fact that war = money.
It scares me on the grounds that the majority of the American public are now willing to do anything that Bush and his cronies decide is good for them just as long as they mention the words "security" and "terrorism" in a sentence. What next, "Mah fellow merkins: to protect our great nation, it is clearly our sad duty in the eyes of god to remove all middle-eastern people from this Earth as they are harbouring terrorists."?
On the flip side, though, you have to realize that a lot of the faults directed at us from other countries are sometimes stereotypical as well. (ie, all Americans are fat and stupid and republicans.) There's a lot of liberal Americans these days, and they're intelligent. There's a lot of nice Americans. We (as people, anyway) aren't terribly different from the UK or Australia, I suppose. It's all in the governments and political views.
I don't think anyone who is setting forth these stereotypes against you really needs a response. Nobody who is actually interested in the discussion would post it. I think a lot of people think of the Americans a generally a friendly bunch. I do.

Do we include the origional map, and then have a destruction levelchange where the player must then work his way back, or do we just destroy the hell outa the thing?
Your choice, really. It's not that restricted.
This compo is to take an area and make it look like something just destroyed the hell out of it. If Kas hadn't made a complex map, what would you have destroyed?
Good point :D.
All custom textures should be -wadincluded
No restriction on using custom textures. You're only limited to an underground base if you lack imagination :|.

You can, of course, improve the minor details like doors which are set in front of walls, dodgy brushes, etc. The important thing is that you keep most of the structure (obviously parts of it are likely to be destroyed).

Also, never heard of people flocking to Britain? There're thousands of immigrants emigrating to britain every year - in fact this is the case with all industrial countries - america isn't uniqe with this in any way.
Indeed. In 2004, 140 000 people emigrated to Britain.

Well, ZL's already ripped apart everything else and is representative of pretty much everyone's opinions, including mine, so I have little else to say.

Seventh, what country are you from? What are we doing that affects you?
England, and if your government hadn't decided to invade Iraq, I think it's pretty unlikely that we'd have loads of troops being shot to pieces there.
Yes, it does take some freedoms away from the American people, but personally I am willing to give up those freedoms in order to prevent an event like 9/11 from happening again.

Besides,
Check my Apartment, my Car,

I have nothing to hide
Good God, you actually believe that? You brag of living in the land of the free, yet will instantly give up any freedom asked of you because of the over-hyped actions of terrorists? News for you: the terrorists are winning, then. You are giving in. Surrendering the freedoms you claim to hold so dear.
I'd rather have someone thrown in jail who MIGHT not be a terrorists that have someone who probably is a terrorists loose on the streets.
Not in a malicious way, although it probably sounds it (this is more directed at all people of your mindeset rather than you particularly): I wish you were imprisoned without charge or trial for a year or two. If that happened to everyone with this absolutely incredible "the government is always right" attitude, the world would be a safer, or at least better, place.
I'd rather have someone thrown in jail who MIGHT not be a terrorists that have someone who probably is a terrorists loose on the streets.
I'd rather be murdered by some lunatic than live in or in any way support a society which imprisoned people at the whim of the police, or even worse, politicians.
