Or you can even force them to look at the event with the help of some cameras, plus you wont be able to see ur weapons while ur in camera mode... for tutorials on how to use the camera, there should be one on twhl.

According to some articles I read this wasn't the first time he attacked one of his pupils. I believe that this guy was cleared of attempted murder, but maybe he will still go to a mental institution or something. Last July, A teacher went psycho on his student and took him out of the classroom, then repeatedly slammed a weight into the boys head till he died while shouting "die, die, die". He was just taken to court and was cleared of all murder charges because according to the judge "it's common sense that this guy was in a stressed state" or something like that. I'm thinking which utter douchebag judged the case that day. Even better, the teacher acquired several supporters asking him to be cleared of the charges. Each one of those people should get slapped. This is totally f'd up.

Hi guys! Skals here. I need some help regarding 2D sprites and photoshop, and I meen like tutorials not a team or anything. Well anyway, Lately I have been taking interest in photoshop and in creating all sorts of 2D and I don't just mean sprites like explosions in Hl, I'm also talking about creating character sprites for 2D games and more, however the problem I have is that i'm not really experienced in photoshop at all and I don't know where to start. I'm looking for some sites perhaps with tutorials on these sorts of things, Maybe even a name of a program dedicated to creating all sorts of sprites? It would be nice if you guys could help me out on this.

I believe the entities in opf are very similar to the half-life ones, with the exception of some new monsters. you should check the tutorials this site holds on half-life1 mapping for some basics on mapping in hammer and the entity guides and glossary pages for information on the entities themselves.

You can add some balconies and dim the lights around where the viewers should sit. don't know how large that map is but you could also add a hallway that leads to the toilets.

Borderlands maybe? I liked the first one but don't know how you could extend that further.

Hammer crashed while compiling, and when I try to start hammer up again, it comes with the error "steamstartup() failed: SteamStartup(0xf,0x0012f4c0) failed with error 1: failed to take a master pipe connection lock.
WTF?

thats a random error you get sometimes when using programs associated with steam, just try to compile again, it'll go away by itself.

I did not really have many ideas... i created this room with low gravity and moving blocks on which you have to jump in order to get to the top of the area, maybe you can put a gun there or you could use this level as a trap and the player then has to get to the top of the area to teleport out. I didn't really create any doors because i didn't know how the map was going to be used.

Rimrook, i tried this method a few times. it doesnt reduce my pollys it just increases them. on 128 max node, i had 3100 wpolys in 1 place, on 64 i had 3200 in the same place.

at worst cases it goes all the way up to 3000 wpolys. :(
i'll try rimrooks method now.

edit: er, i just set max node size to 128, put it on full vis and compiled using compilator. my map now has 200 more wpolys >.>
i can see the nois changes in gl_wireframe, but for some reason the wpolys just went up.

hello there twhlers!
Right now im making a hl1dm map, but im kinda having problems with wpolys.

What im after is trying to find out ways to lower them to get better r_speeds.

I already know a few methods:
1. i have func_walled all my little objects, pillars stair cases etc.
2. i've nulled every face you can't see in game.
3. i have added some hints (not too sure how to properly use them tho).

are there any other methods to lower my w_pollys? any suggestions? ty for reading.

Hey. We had a pretty awesome set of games on the server today. Except for the fact that we FUCKING DIDN'T!

The bots appear to crash every single custom map and the server oh-so-lovingly switches back to crossfire... (FUCKING CROSSFIRE FFS!)

It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the fact that even when they do work, they do nothing but completely annoy the FUCKING TITS OFF OF EVERY PLAYER!

We had a full server this evening and within 10 minutes of a map change it was empty. Hopefully this joint rant will make things clear.

And what i meant was, if you unlocked weapons from only leveling and you could then buy them in a shop, questing wont be necessary, and that would be bad. What you should do is make rare weapons and unlocking weapons quest rewards.

Also, i can help out with the Multiplayer a bit, with a few ideas.

There are a few simple ways you can make your multiplayer rpg world possible. like my first idea is:

If you have 4-5 huge maps, you can get 4-5 different servers hosting one of the maps each and then the player would go to the maps according to his level, but then you would need to find a way to save the players xp when he quits or changes server.

If you don't like this method there is another way; like you can get 1 Big server and use the method some servers like css warcraft servers use, Where the players Xp is saved in the servers data base and updated every time he plays. But if you do this, you would need to find a way how to host all the maps in the server at once, cause I'm guessing you'd have more than one map in the mod.

Oh, i taught u meant it as Multiplayer. Still being Gordons clone would be a big minus. like for example, if you can't talk, how will you get quests from quest givers? it would seem dumb if they just come up to u, tell u to do that and that's it.

edit: about the level system u typed up a few posts ago. I don't think it would work if you just threw weapons at the player when he levels up. If you did there would be no sense of rewards. like what would be the point of doing quests if you get the same guns from just leveling anyway?
