I know that haz, I really just need a way to make the player not be able to quicksave during it, becasue if he does, and fails, it will load the quicksave, which might end with failure again. so if we just have a save before it and a save if you complete it, well, problem solved.

oh, and hunter, could you email me the link to your beta again? id rather just give haz the link instead of attaching it to an email

thats how Muzzles example works BL

MonsterMaker that triggers sprites + sounds + beams.

and through his example I found the interesting thing that if you don't set an end point for a Env_beam it goes in random direction, along with some other env_beam tricks

Saco
So that means that our change_levels are not in the same place
thats not a damn problem. changelevels don't have to be at the same point in the map grid. I thought you knew something about mapping.

Muzzle, you could read back a few posts, but ill just give it to ya
MuzzleFlash, ive been wondering if there would be a way to put something in your map to disable saving via code. my entire part is timed to a song, luckly I have found a way so that currently, if the player saves and loads in my part it will generally pick up where it left off. but now comes the problem that if the player is being slow, he won't have enough time to disarm the bomb. and if he saved at a point where there was no possible way to get to the bomb in time, then the player would either be forced to cheat or find an older save.

so im just wondering if it would be a way to have an in-game entity coded in that could be triggered to disallow or allow quicksaving. it really doesn't sound that hard to do to me. so could you give it a quick thought?

I even included the thought of me writing for this if Urb can't in my PM, but like I said, he doesn't seem to be active

why do you care? you open up steam to play a game or use Hammer 4, both of them can be moved to be on top of steam. and steam can be minimized when its not in use. its like any other program in the world

i don't care how much space it takes up, its not like its going to always be the top window. and if your useing a game through it, its not like steams size is going to get in the way of a full screen app.

and as long as i can use HL2 and (hopefully) the source SDK with it. im fine with whatever they do

nice, the blue looks good.

although I think Black looked more Urban/Industrial Camo, maybe you could use the accuall Urban Camo Pattern that is used, preferably not the old bloch kind(aka the kind that you see in HL's grunts and your blue grunts), but the new digitaly made 'dot' patch camo that they have.

like so

In other news:
My map is really begining to scare me, it feels like it is some kind of ultra powerful monster or something, it just creps me out. and the whole reason for this is the numbers
1310 Solids
8138 Faces (luckly about 5/6 of them are NULL faces)
247 Point Ents (many more to come)
293 Solids Ents (same)

and yet the compile times are still under 1/2 an hour. and I havn't dared to look at the r_speeds yet for fear that software users would have a heartattack at the number.

I really just hope I won't have to go back and do some major hinting, becasue I suck at using Hints.

luckly, no matter what I have to do to get it below 1500 Wpolies (I can't be that far above that). my part will turn out great. a 2.8 minute rush through battle, explosions, grunts, aliens, missle storage rooms, and into a missle silo. by which time the average person should have about 15 seconds left to disarm the bomb

and now I accually need your answers to the questions I asked eairlier.

so, i want anyone who wants to contribue opinion's

1: Should the Bomb be in a random silo when the map loads

and

2: What HL2 song do you like better? Song 16, 20(submix 0), or 29.

And MuzzleFlash, what level of credits do you plan to have in the beginning? like just our TWHL names or like the whole shabang of credits. I plan on having everything at the end but with the:
firstname 'TWHL name' lastname
thing(unless you don't want your name attributed to a great game :P )

[random/anything/read it fools]

My current english teacher is a notoriously hard grader when it comes to reports. today he gave us a copy of one of the best reports he ever recived. the paper was about how Tom Sawyer is and antihero/user/bad role model/Idiot/ and a way of seeing how Mark Twain looked at society. the exert is Mark Twains apperent message/view, but modernized.

...
So too, in a similar fashion, is society purile. It offends and downgrades people for selfish reasons. Advancing society's ideals is its area of greatest interest and concern. For example, if glamour is promoted by society over inner beauty, then the relatively few who are physically beautiful will be glorified, while the great majority will be rejected and cast aside. And yet, most of those who are cast aside do not criicize society for relegating them. This is because society has a created a amoral but foolproof plan for the gullible people in society (the majority) by making them strive in vain to attain that ideal, in this case of physical attractiveness. The media in America blazons and glorifies a certain image that it expects all people to desire and strive for, but the fact remains that not everyone can be the most beautiful person in the world. The results are often hideous, with people not only looking like someone else but acting as another individual as well. This pillages the common person of their unique personality and creates a generic attitude that most people within a society agree with. This attitude is logically the media's attitude. It is a Brainwashing, and a severe one. Someone with reason and logic would say that society has placed itself in an unfair win-win situation, baiting the gullible people into beliveving they can be what they are not meant to be and leaving the minority of wise people without a great voice to make a difference. Withing this cunning scheme is the underlying motive of cowardice.

...

now wasn't that a beautiful gem of writing?
