Oh also, scale your texture scales down just a scoche, on like the tile floor and the crete form wall for more win.

That is impressive dimbark i love the detailing! And those indented(reverse)light fixtures are brilliant if i am seeing them correctly?

Ya i was just kinda shocked to see the site and thought the main idea was neat, though tbh the guy hasn't really done much(not that it's an easy project to tackle).
I think our space organizations should be building some sort of inter-solar spaceship right now and make it a priority. I'd be willing to pay an "enterprise" tax to fund it, but i'm sure a lot of people would cry about it..
Bruce: those sound like some serious rocket motors you were building! (you have any pictures?) Mine were only built out of cardboard and balsa wood, with the standard c and d rocket engines you could buy..
i see now at the hobby store they sell some serious "movie grade" rockets i would love to play with someday.
Oh and about the gravity, the guy says he has designs for some sort of gravity wheel to create something close to 1g gravity..

I followed the instructions from the VDC on builing cubmaps, or:
buildcubemapsexcept after typing in mat_hdr_level 0 or mat_hdr_level 2, i get a console message saying: "can't save multiplayer gaems".. is this normal?
mat_hdr_level 0 (to go to LDR)
map mapname (to reload map)
buildcubemaps

PB, i think you should add the option for automatic grid scaling, that is, when you zoom in, the grid snap size should scale accordingly, and vice-versa when zooming out).
I have no idea why it isnt this way by default, since if you are zoomed in close, you are never going to want to be on a big grid size that i can think of, nor would it ever be useful to have a big small grid size zoomed way out, amirite?

You could eliminate the as maps from the rotation 'till it's sorted--though i would really miss oilrig--, or possbily search for existing ports to normal gameplay, i.e. cs,de, maps.

As for final rad settings, i seem to remember Soup Miner had a fancy final RAD setup, perhpas pm him, or maybe he will chime in. Skals and Archie might also have some good final RAD ideas for ya.

Idk Arch, i deal only in .rmf(i know some people use .map exclusively), and while compilator creates a map file during the compile, it's gone when the compile finishes, at least for me(using compilator 3):

I personally do hard backups to a separate folder every hour or so of editing time, or right before making a big change to the map,and zip them, e.g.:
map0000.zip
map0001.zip
map0002.zip
etc, etc...
so when these glitches occur, you're not left hangin

I think the mods may have a big dick up their sleeve for the next compo, and they are just building up the suspense(plus waiting for the core to be completed)
I personally would join a fy compo; it would be pretty easy since fy maps are traditionally very open maps, and one side is a mirror image of the other.
coming up with a fun/original/cool theme for it might be fun..

It's really interesting stuff and i think one of the episodes is available on youtube as well.
Soup: I agree, if you are too high that is definitely the case. If i hit the sweet spot(not too much nor too little), i defintely gain insight and pick up parts of the story i never noticed before, mostly cuz i think cannabis allows me to relax and focus on one thing, where normally i'd be half-watchihg and thinking about something else.

Archie is the man to ask about lighting stuff, but trippy stuff, you might be better off asking zeeba-g and/or checking out some of his somewhere in time dream map, which is full of trippy lighting.
This is for goldsurce, correct? If yes, maybe start experimenting with some static texture lights if you aren't already. (texture lights are the shizzle in goldsoure for lighting if you didn't know already)
There are all sorts of things you can entity lighting(light, light_spot) for special effects with pulses and strobes and such. maybe set up a test map with a doezen light entities with different render properties to see what you can do.
You can also use tricks to accent your lighting using FADE texture and volumentric light can really add some cool effects to light fixtures, as well env_sprites of course.
Hopefully this helps a little, and other's share their ideas
