Yes, I've got plenty of thoughts!

Just not that many on this subject.

My recomendation is: Screw the highest video settings. the important thing is that the game is running, so I'd say you should cut back on all the settings and have a smooth running picture insted of a good looking unsmooth picture.

And I think you should make more BB maps! Me, Urb and Hunter might get a BB server to run our maps on!

Im also gonna make more maps. I have a nice to-do list.

1. Create a realistic mall map for BB
2. Create a coop mod for BB with puzzles insted of the original BB missions.

Captain terror; You're new at this game, so my guess is that you didn't actualy use your level points? :P Yes, you have to bind a button to get the mouse on screen and decide weather you want to put your level points on "HPS" "SPEED" or "SKILL", and some of the weapons needs you to have 2 - 15 skill points before using them, such as the sniper on the fireescape! :)

And my map is designed for atleast 2 - 3 players, so that you have people that can cover you're ass.

And I probably should have created a game text that you must shoot the first blockade away yourself... Otherwise it all happens when missions are completed.

The map is built of three main areas, one of them is only accessable through completing the "carnage" mission after killing fred.

But thanks for the comment! Im glad you liked it! So play it again with a few buddies and you'll probably enjoy it even more!

I had a good time reading this thread :) ...Many good laugh's...

Seriously, thehalflifedude, I'd probably ban you if I could. You're being rude.
Sure, sure, a lot of people are being rude in this thread, but you started it by being a complete ass by responding with igonrance and anger to advice and critisism. So really, eat your keybord.

But in his defens, TWHL doesn't have a filter to prevent new members from posting threads with "Im making a mod, mod, I need a coder, coder etc. etc." in them. A filter like that would make TWHL 60% less flameable!

But on the other hand, what would TWHL be without baking noobs in the pizza oven? Im serious, flaming people got to be 85,7% of what goes on here, so without it, TWHL would probably quiet down pretty bad or even die. It's a pain in the ass but God it's fun!

So I say, let the dude work on his mod. It only has three possible endings:
1. He fails and we will find amusement in that.
2. He creates a shitty mod, we will laugh at it and find amusement in that.
3. He (his team-members) creates an awesome mod, we love it and find amusement in that.

The 3rd ain't very likely but still, it could happen...

cheers! :glad:

BRAINBREAD - BB_LASTSTAND_LONDON
User posted image
Any of you guys played BrainBread? No? Well you should!

BrainBread can be described with a few words:
Awesome zombie massacre.

It's an HL1 mod, you play as humans against endless hords of zombies who dismember when you shoot them. Shoot the arm of, he'll keep on coming at you! Shot half his head of, he's still coming! Blast the other half of his head of and he's down. but only to be replaced by three more! :P And when you run out of health you turn into one of them! Once the infection-meter is full you can eat your friends brains! And you you've consumed enough brains you'll respawn as human when killed.

There are a few missions in every map:
Kill an amount of zombies
Kill the giant mutated zombie, Fred.
Find a Case and bring it to the mission zone.

Usualy a map is built by all of those missions in different combinations.

The only downer is that all the maps has the be very low poll to handle the insane amounts of zombies. So the maps are either ugly or just acceptable.

I have just finnished a BB map. It's called bb_LastStand_London.

You're in a broken down London, trying to survive and find the case! Maybe even kill Fred, the big old bastard!

I already did, before I set it to 0... I had "1". And after that I had "-1" and then "0". Im gonna try making something else trigger them. I have 5 events tied to the multi_manager. If I try and let one of the other events trigger it, it will trigger in the same moment, and there is a small chance that it succeeds.

EDIT: the same thing happens with another func_breakable a bit later in the map. Same setup exept there isn't a multi_manager that is triggering it.

Hey guys!

I am making a BrainBread map, if you don't know what it is, it's a multiplayer mod for HL1.

The problem:
I have some func_breakables that are being trigger by a multi_manager. The "only_trigger" box is checked. The health is on the deafault "0". But when the multi_manager triggers the breakables, they don't break. and if I shoot them, before or after the triggering, they break.

I've searched the forum but I couldn't come up with anything, so I stopped searching.

Does anybody have a clue about what could be the problem?

The fact that it's multiplayer shouldn't have an effect, to my knowledge.

Thanks guys!

Ok, so here's my list of things I need to get:

1. A green-screen. Right now Im using a big red background, but the editing process would be easier with a greenscreen.

2. Toy guns, gun replicas and stuff like that. Please do suggest what guns you think I should look for, Im not a gun freak, so if we have any gunfreaks around, please provide links to kickass guns.

3. Modelcars, small scale model of musclecars.

Then I'd have pretty much everything I need to make the comic look better and it would be easier to create.

Yeah, I've already thought about that. You see, if I decide to make this, I'd write a script and have a clear and simple storyline to follow. So it would have a beginning and an end... So it would take a hell of a long time to make it, I was thinking about 50 - 100 pages. And just release previews, concept art and stuff like that untill the whole thing is done.

And when it's done I was thinking about printing a few copies, just for fun. You see, I have a part-time job and I still live with my family untill I get a real job so that I can support myself, so right now I have all this money that I just don't know what to do with, so I thought this could be a fun idea, you know.

Age: 19
Cildren: None
Country: Sweden.

1. Games that allow me to express my sadistic and violent side, by making life bad for sims and killing Zombies. Also games that make me think and practice my patience.
I play for about 1 - 4 hours a week.

2. Music, movies, art and food.

3. No, Im not violent. Im a talker, not a fighter.

4. No, I don't. The ratings are way off. The age limits are too high, and as many have said before, this should be up to the parents. They'll know when the kid is old enough to distance themselves from what goes on, on the screen.

5. I would let them play the violent games when they feel that they want to and when I think that they are mature enough. When they have stopped punching eatchother and start to talk insted.

6. No, no. I was allowed to play what I wanted to play. Although, when I was a kid I wasn't allowed to play with toy-guns, wich lead to me being jealous of all the other kids toy-guns, so I was very 'gun-focused' untill I was allowed to play with toy-guns and then it wasn't fun anymore. So playing with guns and violent video-games made me a non-voilent person!

7. No, I most sertanly do not. Violence is not inspired by TV or videogames, it's the other way around! Games and TV is inspired by real-life violence. If there was no violence in real-life then there would be no pretend-violence either. I belive that societies greater acceptance for real-life violence is the cause, it's somehow OK to go to war.

But to awnser your question, Im not really shure where you can find carmodels. but you don't need models for that! I belive that there is some car textures in the HL.WAD. Just use those and then adjust the brushes to the textures. I belive they are very good to the r_speeds due to their cheap looks, that means that you can put a whole bunch of them in your map.

And yeah, Im not 100% sure what you mean by:
car models(brush).

in How do I learned to play guitar? Post #234486
When I first started playing guitar I traded my PSone for a Fenix SG copy and a 20W Kustom amp.

The amp was OK, some lower notes made it buzz a little and the guitar had a banana neck and all that horrible stuff. But it didn't really matter, I knew the gear was horrible but I focused on learning how to play insted of making it sound good right away.

Later on I got myself a Squier Telecaster, and it's one of the best guitars I've ever played. All the Squiers I've tried have been quite good, I've actualy never come across one of those who people clame to suck.

So a Squier Telecaster would be my ultimate recomendation, they seem to always keep a high standard in quality and they are true 'all arounders'. A mean and crunshy tone with the bridge pickup and a warm sweet tone with the neck pickup, and use them both and you've got yourself some rock!

Otherwise I'd say that an Epiphone would be great, not one of those cheap "special" models, stick with the standards, they are a little bit more expensive but the money goes straight into the guitar. They are made with awesome quality and awesome playability and tone for it's price.

When you buy a cheap guitar from a high priced brand, you tend to get crap. But if you buy an expensive guitar from a cheap brand it tend to have better standards.

So my guitar recomendations:
1. Squier Standard Telecaster
2. Epiphone Les Paul Standard/Epiphone SG Standard
3. Squier Standard Stratocaster

It's a little bit harder with amps, cheap amps suck. good amps have HUGE pricetags. So just ask your local shop what they recomend.
I wouldn't recomend a Peavey amp, all the ones that I've tried have a real thin tone. But I haven't really tried that many, I don't like the tone. Im a Marshall/Vox kinda guy.

But you should check out some Behringer amps, 30 or 40W would be my recomendation. The 15W apms just don't cut it.

EDIT: NO! J&D guitars are in fact the most horrible guitars money can buy. Stay away from them, don't even try one. Just don't.

in How do I learned to play guitar? Post #234477
Yeah, if you're a noob it doesn't really matter what guitar you have. As long as it stays in tune and feels good to play on. So don't care about the looks or the image, go with your gut.

And some people perfer the plastic guitars, and some people perfer guitars that's hardly playable, some perfer heavy guitars, some perfer light guitar, you name it. So go to your local music shop and try all the value guitars you can find.

But my recomendation is still Squier, the wuality of Squiers can be all from suuuper sweet to ultra crappy, so make sure that you play that same guitar a lot in the shop before you make up your mind.

A friend of mine had a really crappy Squier, I have a Squier Telecaster (wich I have modified wuite a bit over the years) and it's just like a real Fender. So make sure that you choose carefully.

But still, I recomend a real Fender. I know that you can't afford one but seriously, it's the best guitars ever made. Most of their models are over 50 years and are still here, and that my friend is a good sign of quality.

I love my Fender Deluxe player Stratocaster! ;)
