A lily flower has began growing on a lake. In the first day it has 0.5 square meters. Every day it grows twice as big as the last day( so the second day it's 1 meter square , third day 2 meters square etc.).

In 37 day it grows so big that it covers the entire surface of the lake.
Question: How long does it take for the lily flower to grow so that it covers half of the lake surface?

GrimReafer I am sorry but wtf did you do there? I lol'd.
You multiplied that with 2 and you got practically the same thing.
B+C=2A ?

A+B+C=2age => A= 2age/(B+C)

I think this problem can't be resolved without a third know ecuation.
The sum (using addition) of thier ages are equal to your age x 2.
I don't know why but this seems very wrong to me. It means that all the ages are in function of your age. For me it's 32, but for satchmo for example it's over 80(he's 47 right? I don't remember) =)).
So for me, if all the guests would have the same age, all of them would have almost 11 years while for satchmo all of them would have about 26.

Sorry Muzz, but you're pretty much wrong about PopCap creating original games.

To use your two examples, Zuma had a lawsuit filed against it for copyright infringement of a 1998 game, and the Bejeweled gameplay originated from a 1988 game called Shariki.

Peggle is based on the Japanese 'Pachinko' machines and Plants vs. Zombies is based on the tried-and-tested tower defense gameplay. While all these games add new twists to the gameplay they borrow from, none of the fundamental gameplay elements are original.
Ninjah'd. So stop whining about Popcap originality.

Not all of the Popcap games are shovelware, you mean.
Casual games suck. All of them. They're all the same and they all steal from games such as Tetris or Breakout.
Agree.
You're a twat.
From a casual gamer like you I even don't feel insulted.
Don't you dare tarnish the god-like title that is Peggle.
I actually completed Peggle. But that doesn't change my mind about Popcap games.
It's a waste of money to buy their games. Really, if you get awesomely bored go on kongregate or something.

Don't forget, Popcap games make quirky 2D titles for the PC and are raking in the green.
Fuck Popcap games, all of their games are old-games ideas with eye-candy graphics.
everything is made with models and stuff.
Made me laugh. Of course it is, almost every game engine uses models for almost everthing. Sometimes I think Source isn't a good engine to start with as it gets you used to brushes but it is useful for CAD like architecture.
The only other engine I've mapped for other than hl1&hl2,starcraft and a bunch of other games is Crysis. Man, in that game I hardly found a tool for brush mapping! And it's a storyline dependant engine... if you don't give it modifications. You always "raise" terrain in the water, make jungle-like maps and use the existing models.

I personally think there was a time when everybody could have a chance of selling a game. And that period was between 1990-2000. Examples: tycoon, settlers, civilization. Nowadays, there are a lot of opensource alternatives, and the future is opensource.

The real problem is that you can't base your game that you want to sell on a extremely popular engine. An engine like that happens to be goldsource and source too, so they have thousands of mods, which are 99% free. You really need a custom engine, or something good that is different.

The donation thing sounds like not a bad idea but I really think that if we had the drive to sell it we would make it way better.
The important thing here is to attract the sympathy of those who try the game. If "we\you" can do that( assuming there will be a "we", or "you"), your mission in the effort of doing money with it is done. What you need to do next is introduce "special" in-game features that are available only for money. Like svencoop did with its electric crowbar.

Remember, I'm available for recruit if you'll ever change your mind and choose the Source engine(which is anyway newer and would attract more players, something old doesn't really attract players).
At this moment I know how to make maps for source and model(+texturing) simple static\physics props( by simple I mean "as a whole" not the geometry of that prop).
I use blender for that.

With excelent made open source games(which are obviously free), it would be hard to sell without coming with an original ideea, like Portal did. Or garry's mod.

Maybe a possibility would be to put a donate paypal button on the mod's site...
I'd be happy to participate, if it's source based :)

Well let's see... in a chronological way, starting from February I guess...

-My interest in film-making\machinima making started, and began learning advanced video editing.
-My interest in photography\filming began, but until this moment I didn't have money to buy a DSLR\camcorder.
-For my birthday(15april) I bought myself a second hdd(WD Caviar Blue 500GB) and made a VISA debit card.
-I worked hard for a site writing about different programs used in overclocking\gaming\performance issues(actually just translated descriptions, installed them to make screenshots but never actually used them so don't ask me about these, I use a bunch of software that I know only) and earned 4 GB of Kingston HyperX DDR2 memory.
-Started learning a bit more c++, but my interest got lost in a matter of weeks so I'm still a beginner. I learned some basics of Allegro graphics library and made some basic graphic programs(now I don't know how to do that anymore... only if I learn it again, I don't know what to do for my interest :\).
-Started saving money for a big upgrade. Only have like 100 euro or something, I need like, maybe aprox 460 euro to make my upgrade. Including a new case. And that's because my interest in 3D modelling began this year, and it dropped because of the huge rendering times...

That's about all :). I hope I'll achieve a lot of more new things in this year. Happy new year !

A good non-atheist, for example, a Christian, does good in a bid to get into heaven and escape hell.
That's a bad example of a good non-atheist. A good atheist would sacrifice himself to go to hell for somebody he loves to go to heaven, without thinking he will be saved for the massive sacrifice. But of course, that'd be hard for me, because I can't control my mind not to think about "you're doing this for your own good". Meh, sometimes I force myself to be good and force myself to ignore those thoughts. It's all about control.

But let's go nuts
According to some scientists, 3D is not the last dimension. Actually many scientists believe that there is a 4th dimension, 5th dimension... and so on. I watched a documentary some time ago, I don't remember much. But I remember that in 3rd dimension we can modify physical things, like mass, distance etc... but we don't have access to time. We're like in a circle, we need a lot of force to escape that circle(maybe it's the speed of light? or maybe wormholes are the answer, if they don't make you a twisted sandwich). Also, if I were in the 4th dimension, when standing in front of a an object, say... a cube, I'd see not only the faces in front of me. I'd see all of those faces.
Maybe our protecting entity, God, is in the 4th dimension, he can modify time(thus being forever) and can see everything when watching earth.
God forgive me, I'm a little heretic right now, but not only me sees God as a protecting entity.
But maybe there are a lot of things that control our destiny.... where does mass come from? Seriously, what if our brain actually "thinks" with a non-mass energy?

Sorry, I like to discuss these things with you. I find it challenging, funny ,interesting and I find new things :D

Oh I'm sorry. But anyway, normal religious people will always try to be good. Religion is here to teach you to be better, otherwise you'd always put a question in your mind: "why not be evil? so what? I die....good people die too, but there's nothing after death". Religion is for the hope of a better life after death.

These Christians demonize Muslims and they're taught to hate everyone except Christians. The intolerance and militancy of the tone made me cringe.
Wrong, the bible teaches us to love everyone and try to explain somebody the importance of God in the Universe.

The problem with all of you atheists is that you consider us believers a bit derailed. Perhaps there are a lot of those a bit derailed, coming even from christian people. As an Orthodox I have to say that the original christian religion is my religion. Don't come with arguments it is not. In 1054 the church was divided in 2 parts: the catholic and the orthodox. While from the catholic churches evolved a lot of new ideas and thus, new churches, the Orthodoxies didn't change anything in the original concept. That's why you see a lot of abnormalities these days that scare you.

But comparing us to the Nazis... you know something? I can compare all of you who say this as well. You want us to disappear, you consider us wrong....

I'm not going to launch a "counter-attack", I'm just saying that in the real world "one for all and all for one" doesn't apply on everything. So blame the ones that are abnormal, a lot of christian people have a good heart. And having a good heart and being good with others is the ideal we have to achieve in Christianity.

I'm scared too about those who think they can "speak in tongues".

[EDIT] Oh, and btw, atheists can be abnormal too. Best example from my country: Ceausescu.

What you have there is a class. Classes are a collection of functions that have commune variables that are private for the class. This is the object-oriented programming.

Our brain is truly a fucking complex processing unit. It's a wonder it works very well.
Now, "fucking complex" is a powerful attribute, and I'm not going to explain why it is because the majority knows, and there's Wikipedia anyway.

I don't know if we can call this sleep paralysis, but I often "wake up" during the night when somebody walks near me. I just open my eyes, without actually moving myself. And I distinguish the reality from the dream, but half of me is sleeping.

But I did experience something hardcore. And that just showed me how powerful is my brain and that I'm unable to control it: I can use it to control every last detail of my body, yet I don't know how. I experienced this 3 weeks ago, when I was dreaming....having sex. And guess what, I had an orgasm and ejaculated. The awful moment was at the end of the ejaculation when I realised "hey, this is reality". I was like "omg...wtf?! oh no! SHIT! SHIT!". Believe me guys this is good, because you can shower immediately and such. It's much worse when you don't wake up, and the sperm stays there and when you wake up you don't feel it because it's ...well...mostly dried out and warm, but when you get up " WTF STINKS LIKE THAT?". And you look down... "OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO".

Other thing that happen to me in the moments after I go to sleep are small dreams. I dream I'm falling from high places, or I just stumble upon a stone, the exact moment I hit the ground is me waking up, but the moment I hit the ground the pulse just accelerates. It's worse than being scarried.

Now, I do believe in something. I believe I can fly.... sorry...
I believe you can induce different moods. I don't know if this is true, but these days I've watched on national geographic something about...a hormone or what, "serotonin"... I think. This is responsible for you getting in a good mood. You just feel happy. Before going to bed, I insisted on this thought "tomorrow I'll have a high level of serotonin". And the next day I was "high".
