can you change the sprite of an env_beam?
and just tie it to 2 func trains that are really close to eahcother?
I've never tried it but it could be worth a shot.

True that would result in bad lighting, but it seems like he's func walling everything that doesnt seal the map from the void
IMO - overboard, and it could be resulting in the render issues.

There's such a thing as over-optimizing, and that's what you're doing.
So don't throw my help back at me because you asked for it in the first place.

Ok jeff. so long as you're still willing, i can butcher the map to use vanilla. If there's any functionality that's missing from the loss of spirit, include the details of what you WANTED to happen in a README and i'll see if i can mimic it with regular ents. Else, we'll just have to cut our losses, and throw in an emblem.

And at Captain terror - YES it's still going. Slowly, but slow progress is better than no progress.

those lights definitly don't need to be func walled. I think you might be going a bit overboard.
Try turning everything back into world brushes, and just func wall the important stuff. (TINY details / handrails / cylinders)

yep. Just place a bunch of spotlights where you want some light to be.
Have everything else dark.
Not much else you can do unless you get the env working properly.

Actually, a good mix of spot lights, point lights and tex lights.

This cant use spirit jeffmod. It's vanilla half life... I apologize but i'm not changing the format of the whole mod for one map(s)
And if you wadinclude that one huge wad with each BSP it's a waste of space. You're better off having 4 or 5 maps share one external wad then include them in every single bsp.

Awesome. Thanks garg. Anything that saves me work is fantastic. And the more maps the merrier, so long as the level changes work properly, and all the materials are there. So go ahead and splice!

I think my next step is to consolidate the wads I'm using. I'm already up to my neck in custom wads and I think it's just gonna get worse. No worries though, I can always split this project into chapters. Episodic style. Keep the downloads relativley small as well.
As for skals's maps i fixed the level changes, and i'm just doing the emblem collect triggers now.

And expect an update by wednesday.... I know it seems a bit far in the furure, but i still have lots of stuffs on my plate. Plus i recruited a school friend of mine to work some some of the minor stuff.

EDIT--
HAI GAISE!!!

It's wednesday and no update yet, but yesterday i was stricken with a terrible head-cold and slept for 16 hours (4pm - 6am) and today i still have bad symptoms from yesterday and i'm gonna rest some more today.. just trying to take it easy.

Soon will come. soon :)

EDIT AGAIN -

Sorry I've been hindered by a death in the family. Wake is thursday along with funeral and such. Going to miss a class, and i've been spending all week with my family.
Class is taking a heavy toll as i said earlier.

And the more and more maps i get for this mod, the more un-organized my mod folder becomes. I need to take the next few hours and get everything sorted out and organized. Then i can make some good progress.

So far completed:

Training Area
Hotdog's
Captain Terror's
One of my dead ones
20% Atom's Mod
90% Skals -NEW!
Skals =[

Fixed your sprites, fixed your lighting (plus added some color in there as well) But i cant seem to get the level changes working properly. I'll tackle that some other day.

You should always try compiling with full vis if you get any light errors.
Also double check the geometry to make sure there are no leaks.
Or just add a pointlight to cancel out the shadow.

I keep having this problem when running off my flash drive... I can select stuff, but the select is buggy.
It's EXTREMELY difficult to select individual faces with the tex tool, and i often times have to do the 'hold down select' trick just to select the proper 3d object....

Saw 9 last night.
It was a 9-oclock showing in theater 9 on 9/9/09.
Other than that, the movie was hy7ped more-so than it should have. I went in with high expectations and left with a less than satisfying taste in my mouth.

The acting was mediocre at best, and the plot progressed faster than it should've. Another 30 minutes and a better actor for the main character would've made it much better.

Nonetheless, good cinematics and was definitly entertaining / disturbing at parts.

7/10

Well check the compile log to see if there's any errors in the CSG portion.
If there is you can go to the brush number and check it out.
As for using the pts file, In hammer, go to map >> load pointfile, and browse to your mapname. You should see a line starting at an entity and zigzagging wildly around the map. It should just shoot off into a random wall somewhere.

Oh and make sure none of the exterior walls are func_walls. That often times happens.

ok.... wow.. just wow. Had a look at the .map. And when i loaded it, and error message popped up saying could not load 8 solids due to errors in the map file. That could be a problem. Secondly, wow again.
Turn all your statues into func_walls, and please, for the love of god don't carve any more cylinders. The center of your map looks like a leak-fest and vis probably hates you... Not to mention you skyboxxed the map, and that generally leads to muchos problemos.
Mainly, longer compile times, and higher R-speeds due to the engine displaying the outside of the world... Please take a look at your complex architecture, and func wall it... or even better, func_illusionary it and then you can just make simple clip brushes to cover it up.. Get rid of the skytextures on the bottom of the map, and you should have an easier time compiling.
