Nah i have it all sorted out. I was testing my entity setups only running csg and bsp, and because of that, you can see EVERYTHING at the same time..
Goldsource was bitching. :combine:
So now that i'm running full compiles, (+vis and +rad not full) Everything works now.
I think i have the whole storyline / gameplay aspect done. Now to scrip in the extras and hints.
OMG i might make it >.<
Depending on how long my final compile takes.
Like worldcrafter, i will keep the -fast vis compile as backup in-case the other fails.
But for now, I need to eat while this compile is running.

Damnit. You're right World Crafter.
I can see every brush on the map because im not running vis. Even if i run vis and not rad i get the same error.so i gotta wait the half hour before even testing my entity set-ups.
I gotta be EXTRA careful now :( damnit.

And idk how to fix it.
Half the shit in my level just isnt rendering. WHYYY ? :(
I'm using hint brushes wheere they need to be but when i turn on gl_wireframe 2 i can still see every damn brush in the map.. i dont understand.
I've seen maps with an incredible amount more entities than i have...

btw you were way right Tetsu0. Making the textures bigger scaled takes tons off my light data. With out knowing this I would not have been able to finish my map.
Fixed :)

Glad it helped Zeeba.
And if you're running into terrain clipping problems, use the bevel texture.
Texture every unseen face of complex geometry, like triangle-method-terrain, with BEVEL. It makes everything run MUCH smoother. It's amazing.
I hope you know that, as of now, there's only ~28 hours left. Not to stress you out or anything, but you might have to drop some of the smaller details and get the map out the door soon.
Which is why i'm doing the bigger stuff now. I consider the terrain to be a minor detail. It's always something i can do later. After everything else is working properly. Until then, it's flat. And i could care less.

The big stuff is the scripting. I said earlier that it was a DM map but i changed my mind. Therefore since its SP i need scripting to tell the story. Tho i might have to resort to game_texts and fancy sounds now.
My only concern is getting all my other resources together so when i submit it, the judges can actually play it without error.. i'm notorious for tripple checking, but overlooking one minor detail.

Thanks Zeeba and Worldcrafter!
I'm getting the gist of the scripting done right now. Then i'll go back and add terrain detail as i can. I'm losing 60% of my day tomorrow becasue i'm goin across state to see some relatives i havent seen in a few years. They're great people and i wouldnt miss this BBQ for anything. Not even the compo end deadline.

So i'll do what i can right now, (i have to go dig some fencepost holes in a bit) then in 3 hours i have another family function to attend, and tonight i'm gonna work my ass off getting everything working as i want it to.

and... my rents are back from the store with the concrete... looks like i'm losing more time :( blah

Whatever.

EDIT---

@ Zeeba - you could try scaling up some textures a bit.
All the ones that don't really need noticing. Even a scaling them from 1.0 to 1.2 will give you another +/- 10% light data to work with.

don't use additive for the transparant textures. That makes the rest of it glow. It's a nasty effect and i'm sure you don't want it.
Just rendermode: solid with fx at 255 will work fine
Make sure "{" is at the beginning of the name else it wont be transparent.

if it's still not working, go into wally, open up the pallette editor
make the last color a bright pink or something.
take that color and paintbucket the blue to pink. save and try that.

Actually, as a lifeform, our main reason is to eat, shit and survive long enough to have sex with the hottest female (or male if you bat for the other team) so we can carry on the strongest genes possible to the next generation. But now that we found tools, it's more than that.

Now we have to learn manners, get an education, get a job, support ourselves... all while eating, shitting, and trying to find the most attractive female possible.

So since we've been doing that forever.
I agree with darkie in that: "What do we do now?"

havent touched mine in 2 days. I can throw any chance of even getting an honorable mention RIGHT out the window.
And i still have 2 areas to map as well.
everybody in my department is going to an 8 hour software training meeting.
I-myself, went yesterday.
I'm seriously considering booting hammer from my flash drive and working on those 2 unfinished areas. The map is outdated, but i havent touched those anyway.
Maybe i can work out a storyline too.
I love how they don't give the intern any work to do....
Their loss.
wait.. the P.E. (professional engineer) is still here. He's like 3 cubicles today and walks loudly. Maybe i can get away with it. He's giving me some stuff to do but i hope it's easy and i can multitask and hammer at the same time.

I KNOW!

I think it has something to do with the first window you start drawing the selection box in. Because i group all the objects i VM, and there's always a bunch when i go to select so i need to swap views in order to shrink or expand the selection box.

I'll have to pay attention next time to some factors:

Which window i started making the selection box
Which window i hit enter in
Whether or not i swap windows when selecting
Which window i try to click and drag in after making my selection

Ok anyone else get this problem:

You're doing the triangle terrain method, and you select a bunch of vertices...
You click and drag.. but instead of dragging the 40 vertices you selected, you grab one fucking random vertex and deselects everything else.
why

And yes, i've hit the connection button.. It freezes, tries to connect, then switches back off.

Anybody ever heard of the Galapagos finches? It's how darwin basically 'proved' his hypothesis into a theory. There are some 30 types of finches on the galapagos island, all believed to have came from the same parent species. But because of the area of the island that each sub-species resides in, and lack of migration to other areas, the finches evolved different features : Longer beaks, shorter beaks, larger eyes, thick beaks, shorter legs...

Plus take a look at the human appendix. A few thousand years ago the appendix was much larger. And it actually served a purpose. The appendix filters out the bacterium that's found in raw meat, protecting our bodies, and allowing our intestines to distribute the nutrients into our blood without contaminating us. Since we've discovered fire, and began cooking our food, the bacteria died and didnt need to be filtered. Since that point, we haven't been eating raw meat (essentially..) and because of that, our appendixes arent needed anymore.

I believe there has also been evidence showing that our pinky toes are leaving as well. They don't serve much of a purpose, and people who don't have them have the same balance they would with the toe.
