If i put the final safe house closer to the shopping centre, players would get annoyed having to replay the final section to replay the final? (I know I do in 2 out of 4 of the official campaigns) and the centre itself is really too open for me to cut a section off to be a safehouse.

hmm. i wonder if it automatically adds that blue glow around interactive items. Could be a little difficult to make buttons obviously interactive if it doesn't, since that's what players are used to.

roughly 0.87 miles (1.40km) passing several iconic Glasgow locations and finishing in the wonderful Glasgow Central Station, where survivors will escape via Train.
Green highlights are safe houses, where the map will change.

I'll be working alongside Tuna & PaulRPG and anyone else who wants to lend a hand would be welcome.

What do I mean?
I mean I spend a ridiculous amount of time making brushwork objects like the aircraft featured in lollerskates2, only to end up with something not-brilliant looking that could be done a lot better as a model.

And lollerskates2 is certainly not short of features.

o Fully flyable, acurately scaled passenger aircraft.

o Several vehicular stunt areas.

o Buggy & Airboat armour. 90% bullet-proof. Will stop a combine sniper shot. Comes in 4 designs, all with sliding access doors.

o Fully operational teleport system, with map/diagram for ease of use & visually pleasing teleport effects.

That's maybe half. It spawned purely from ideas myself, Urbanebula and Livewire had while playing gmod together. I'd add the idea to the map. We'd play it, then think of something else. I'd add it and the process would repeat. It's a very efficient way of mapping, getting instant feedback.

It's 6:50am, and I refuse to read an article at this time, but I will say that internet communities (TWHL being one of the best) have without a doubt helped me. If you look back at my posts from 2004, 2005 - you'll notice that I type and act like... well... a complete fucking retard.
Negative responses to this from the kind, yet intolerant people of TWHL lead me to quickly change my ways.

Take skals as an example. Back in the days of him calling himself ghetto, he was completely unbearable. (No offense intended.) Within a few months of unparalleled abuse, he became a valued member of the community.

Elitist dickholes can be a good thing too. In the case of trapt on mapping, for example - He'll let you know exactly why your map is in fact shit and what you should do to fix it (before fucking your granny.)

If they are actually correct - they're a good thing.

On the other hand - elitist idiots can pollute the minds of many.

Probably not making sense what with the only thing keeping me awake being L4D-induced adrenaline, but I know what i mean, and that's the important part since none of you are even remotely ambitious enough to have read all of this. Therefor:

tl;dr:

The majority of TWHL are dickheads. This is for the best.

You have an object that's somehow outside Hammer's grid. Try running Hammer's Check for Problems (alt-P) and correct any instances of "invalid solid structure." Also, check the VBSP portion of the compile log for errors such as "no visible sides on brush."

Nvidia is better for cost/performance ratio for mid-range cards, which basically means that they're winning atm. The real competition isn't at the super high-end $1000+ cards.
uhh.. no.

you have it the wrong way round.

Nvidea have the most powerful card (GTX 280) but ATI have the performance/cost in their favour.

i shot a hole in the wood door'd bathroom in the spawn of the second map, then spawned a Witch through it, while making sure to keep a safe distance.
I ran away and told AT to take a quick look at something cool in the bathroom.
Urby recommended otherwise. Urby got witch'd. karma.
it was all the same. Spawning, waiting for the horde, Hunter: dont open the door, raver opens the door, we get killed, respawn.
We weren't actually playing. we were spawning shit.

the Ai manager takes pity on you from time to time, but tanks are normally replaced with a witch in the subway level.

ATDestroy is talking rubbish. Look inside all the bathrooms. It's the right thing to do, no matter what he or Urby might tell you.

I like the 3 weapon system. Its more realistic, not carrying around a stockpile makes more sense to me.
Not to mention the fact that a limited supply of heavy firepower adds a LOT to the tension (although i've only ever run out of primary ammo once in the demo.)

it's actually just two arches, one that is still visible, and the other much wider that actually makes up the ceiling then VM'd into shape.

That's just for one side of the collumn, obviously :P then it was just a mass duplication

it's actually the castle where I've just spent the last five days. My cousin had his wedding there. One of those quaint little places at the south of England that nobody knows about.

Change filtering to bilinear, and keep AA at at least 2x. Games are so ugly without AA.

Use the steam .gcf defragger on all Source2007 games, and refresh TF2's local content.

Check your virus scanning software and other such likely candidates to be sneakily using all your system resources in the background.
